I have become very depressed lately about my husband's Crohns diagnosis. I try my best not to show it or share it with him, so as to not add to his burden. I feel like the future is very grim for him. I feel like he is going to suffer the rest of his life. It saddens me to no end. Does anyone have any encouraging thoughts to get me out of this slump?

With the way technology is developing, they are liable to come up with a cure. People are always going into remission. There is a certain section in here called Success Stories.. You should look it up.

Thanks, Ron. I really hope there are some scientists in a lab right now figuring it all out. I have read (on this website) about a few treatments, such as FMT, that are promising. I'm surprised that it is not available for Crohn's patients.

I don't know much about it but the nurse practitioner in my gi's office mentioned it in passing. I think there is a thread in here about it.

Hi sarah27 i am so sorry to hear , yes this disease are not always easy to live with neigher for us or the people around us but as ron said they are working on a cure and once he reached remmision he could live a normal life. Dont think about the things in the future and what could happen, take one day at a time and enjoy it. I hope the best for you and your husband

I am the wife of a Crohnie too. I feel you. This is how I felt 3 months back, I felt this is how our life is going to be forever. But now he is responding to medication and slowly edging to remission. Knock on wood. Hang on dear. It WILL get better soon. You WILL have the amazing life you deserve.
XO

Thanks everyone. I had to stop myself from reading all the threads on this forum. I spent hours reading and I think I sent myself into depression. I did not share it with my husband. I think I just needed to hear something positive. Some hope that he's not going to be miserable the rest of his life. Is there anything specific you know about the cure they are working on, or do you just mean people are looking in general?

Keep in mind that the people posting here are the ones in a flare. The ones who are feeling better have mostly moved on with their life. I've been here a while, and most of the people from when I joined are long gone.

That's good advice, Tuff. I forgot about that. This sounds silly, but how do people get in remission and "get on with their life?" Is it medication? Diet? I'd love to help him get in remission.

I think it's also important to get rid of the stress in your life. I gave up my stressful hectic job I loved. Getting on medication or a combination of medication that works may take a little while. A food diary can help to find your trigger foods. Many of us have vitamin deficiencies due to malabsorption, it's good to have those checked too. I went to a nutritionist a few times. It gets better. :ghug:
