Will I ever enjoy eating again?

Hi.
I've been having symptoms similar to Crohn's and its flare-ups for about a year now, including abdominal pain and nausea. I used to eat horribly -- basically 2 fast food meals every day. Since I started crossing foods off of the list of safe choices, I've had an extremely hard time finding anything that gives me any kind of appetite. Even when I try to eat very bland things, like white rice, I get full/nauseous after an extremely small portion.

At this point, I don't know what foods I can eat. I just wish I could eat one tiny pill every day that gave me all of my nutrients, because I dread eating every day. I'm anxious about what I am going to eat, if I'm getting enough nutrients, and if I'm going to trigger a flare-up.

This is half a vent, and half a desire for help.

Hi and welcome.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Have you seen a GI specialist yet? If not, I strongly recommend seeing one to find out what's going on.

Sending you my support.

Last year, I was given an endoscopy and they didn't find anything. At that point, my GP needed to give me a recommendation to go to another specialist, and she didn't believe it was in my best interest to go after a diagnosis. I'm now in the process of changing my GP.

Thank you for your reply.

defo change of doctor it could be anything even some weird bug you need bloods and samples of the smelly stuff checked and if it came to it a colonoscopy.the diet thing and fast food won,t have caused it,theres plenty of people live off fast food with no issues and that includes crohnies,if you think there is an issue with food bland your diet for a few weeks be cautious of alcohol don,t smoke, its bad for everything.good luck all the best

It's not exactly a little pill, but would you try Boost or Ensure meal replacements? You can literally live off of them. Our child thrived for three months out of the last 6 or so on Ensure drinks alone. No food. They are easy on the GI tract. But you should not give up on getting treatment from a physician.

I was going to suggest Ensure, Fortisip, etc. too. You get everything you need with no hard decisions to make.
