Hi everyone,

Im new here and wanted to introduce myself. I was diagnosed with fairly mild Crohns in 2021, and for a long time, I was able to keep my symptoms under control with mesalazine. It worked well for my colon, but unfortunately, it didnt do much for my ileum. I had clinical remission, but still a lot of inlammation. Over the years, the inflammation in my ileum kept getting worse, so my doctor decided it was time to switch to a biologic.

12 weeks ago, I started Entyvio, and while it has helped my Crohns, Ive been struggling with severe side effects. About a week after my first infusion, I began experiencing constant dizziness and extreme weakness. Instead of improving, these symptoms have progressively worsened to the point where Im now completely bedridden. I even ended up in the ER after collapsing, but all my tests came back normal.

Whats strange is that my symptoms arent tied to the infusions themselves and they are constant, every single day, between infusions as well. Despite how severe my symptoms are, my doctor doesnt believe Entyvio is the cause. However, given how much my quality of life has declined, I will likely have to switch to another biologic. Im really worried that Ill have the same reaction to other treatments.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Did things improve after stopping Entyvio? And how did you tolerate other biologics after a bad reaction to one?

Looking forward to hearing from others and being part of this community!

Before you switch - see a neurologist .
Since not everything one has -is from meds or even Crohn’s .
My adult child is a good example of this
Two autoimmune disorders plus one auto inflammatory disease .
At first we blamed crohns - switched meds etc…
Only find out about the other diseases later .
Get a second opinion at neurology and rheumatology.
Many things could be causing those .
Good luck

Well the thing is i felt perfectly fine before getting on entyvio. Had high inflammation but not much symptoms. 1 week after the infusion it went from 0 to 100 symptom wise. And worsened over the next 12 weeks. So i think this really is from the entyvio. After the infusion i went on vacation and was very active and enjoying. And then just in de middle of the day after a hike the symptoms hit hard.

Still check with neuro /rheumo
They will be able to tell you through imaging /testing if it is entyvio or something else
Better to know since what they see will determine what type of drugs may still be ok and which types to avoid .
