Hi all,
So, I'm a 17 year old girl, and I've recently started experiencing some odd GI symptoms. Though I had never been particularly attentive of my bowel movements, I did notice that I began to get constipated intermittently, which made little sense considering how good my diet is. I googled my symptoms, and was relieved when I was able to attribute the constipation to the week before menstruation; indeed, it resolved itself then. I forgot about it once again.
Then, it didn't get better. I've been chronically constipated for around a month: some days are better than others. I have a BM every day, but it's always small, hard, dark-ish balls (not black, just dark brown) that are quite a strain to get out. I've seen them covered in mucus, and recently what caused me all this panic is that I've been what appears to be blood in a few of them. What made me question the Bloody Diagnosis was that it was extremely small, like a small red streak in one of the tiny stools; it looked like a tomato skin, not like typical fresh blood. I didn't bother to inspect it any further, foolishly; I ran off to the internet to diagnose myself with colon cancer. I've been worried ever since.
Because of my age and lack of colon cancer in the family, it's likely not that; however, it must be something, and I'm not going to the doctor for another 2 weeks (couldn't get an appointment.) I was therefore wondering if someone on here could help me? Advice, ideas? Like I said I'm worried sick and it's pretty much ruining my holiday, lol.
TL;DR: white 17 year old girl, 27 bmi, gym 3x per week, no history of any sort of GI distress in the family or myself.
Symptoms: bad constipation; mucus in stool; the occasional feeling of incomplete emptying; bloating; the odd bit of pain in the abdomen and lower back (it's not bad; I can forget about it, and it's intermittent) pain in the anus area, including some itching and what feels like swelling.
Asides from all this, I feel fine. It's just super annoying and worrying.
