I work in a school, so this time of year is very busy getting things sorted for the next school year. I have to get things ready for 3 classes (displays, book covers, support materials etc) and have just heard that I will only be allowed 3 mornings a week for 2 weeks to get it all done, the member of staff I work with will have the same (A total of 30 hours, normally I am allowed to spend all my time preparing).

Although I work in a primary school, there is a definate divide between infant and junior. The juniors will also be getting the same things ready, but they are complaining because they have 6 classes so have more to do. Yes, but they have 2 members of staff with 5 mornings free, one with 3 mornings and one full time! That adds up to 134 hours total!

Of course, I am not allowed to ask for help, if I do then I get 100000000001 reasons why they have it worse than me. Also I am not allowed to complain that I am tired because again they have it a million times worse than me.

It just pisses me off because I have always gone out of my way to help others and they can't do the same for me when I need it.

Hi Rebecca, I understand, and I have learned to not do so much for others, because as soon as I stop helping so do they. People outside our community dont understand and that is why awareness is needed. This must cause you alot of stress, which is warranted.

I know that teachers spend alot more preparing time and don't get paid extra for it, and that isnt fair whether you are healthy or not. Is there anyway you can do anything from home? Not having help doesnt make sense.

Funny part is, no one knows how much work you do until you are not there.
Sorry I can help you much but I can support you with a hugs.

I'm not a teacher, I am the help lol. Unfortunately I can't take the work home because I need the photocopier, laminator etc.

The good thing is, the people who I do all this stuff for do appreciate me, and yes they did miss me when I was in hospital! It's just for some reason the junior staff have got it into their heads that I am a slacker and whatever I do or say, they have a comeback. I offer to do one job, I get given 4. I give them a reason why I can't do something, they give me 10 reasons why I have to. This has been going on a long time (well before I got ill). I don't even mention the Crohn's unless it's absolutely necessary, like on Tuesday when a child vomited and I asked another member of staff to deal with it.

.. my bad, thought you were a teacher. Really doesnt matter, the fact is you are pulling your own weight, some people are just crabby :crab:.

:hang:
