worried need advice/suggestions

Hi All,

my husband has crohns for 15 years he takes Remiciade for past 4 years. He is recently diagnosed with osteoporosis. we are trying to start a family. but no luck so far, I have seen my obgyn and all tests are clear. he is being tested for low testosterone and semen analysis. i haven't got any results yet. but, from what i have been reading and researching on internet he seems to be having symptoms of low testosterone.

my question is does Remicade affects fertility? given that he might have low sperm count and low testosterone would I be able to get pregnant. I am very anxious and the thought of not having kids is very devastating for both of us.

any advice is appreciated.

I googled and the National Association For Colitis and Crohn’s Disease has information about fertility issues. Google "male fertility and crohn's." It lists the various medications, but it sounds like his fertility shouldn't be affected. I had a friend whose husband had low testosterone and the doctor prescribed it for him. They have two healthy kids, but I do know that the doctor told them they it could easily take a year of trying, so to stay patient.

Hi - keep trying! That's the fun part. My wife and I had trouble and she was diagnosed with blocked tubes. We adopted 2 girls from China, and while waiting for the 2nd, she got pregnant! Go figure - now we also have a 3 yr old son.

Hopfully his tests come back good.

thanks again for your reassuring response

I was on Remicade for 2.5y and now on Humira for the past 2y, and last week just had a beautiful baby girl...so these drugs did not affect me....

Good luck and keep on trying....
