YAY! Good-ish news!

So i got a response from a private surgery clinic downtown, and the price for a colonoscopy is well within what i'm willing to pay, at $1500, and they can get me in within two weeks. Now the only thing is to find out if my phsicians will treat me based on what they find, if they find anything out, and book!
I'm so happy, i was feeling so helpless, and it's so gret to be able to take control of my own health.

Also, the doctor weighed me today, and if i lose much more weight he will see about getting me admitted. Pretty sad that i'm contemplating laxatives to make sure i do. LOL. Anyways, feeling a little hope today. Still no pain meds, but i did get sleeping pills, and if it gets bad then i will go back to the ER

Yay for getting an appointment sooner!! Boo for having to pay so much for it!!! And boo that you have to even consider taking laxatives for your "health" Someone else on here was going to eat a bucket of popcorn to get admitted at one point. So frustrating.....

Sorry to hear you have to go to such lengths.

I finally blew my top and threatened to go to a private clinic if I didn't get an appointment with my GI. Poor receptionist!

Got in the next day ("last minute cancellation") LOL.

After that, got the 'scope and tests in short order.

Can't hurt... LOL! I told 'em that while I realize there are sicker people than me, I couldn't wait any longer and I was left with no choice but to go to a "quack."

I'm last one to have a temper, but I just lost it.

Um...no , Nsaids are a no no for Crohns, while we are on the subject so is Ibuprophen and Asprin, not good for the gut.

Glad you got a scope sooner and I hope you insurance will cover it??? Let us know the results. Your doctor should except results from anywhere, if he is ethical.

Good luck Tamesis! Getting a colonoscopy is an important first step, so hope that goes well. The prep isn't too fun, but I was completely sedated and don't remember anything from the actual procedure. I wouldn't punish your body just so the docs will take you seriously... it's honestly just not worth it. Once you have the scope, they will see everything and hopefully start you on treatment soon.

Good luck Tam... glad you have taken things into your own hands and looked into going private... I know sometimes its sucks to have to pay but at that amount its worth doing and hopefully getting diagnosed! I think mine cost around $1200 her in oz but it was covered under my insurance... like you if I was to go public I would still be waiting. Good luck and let us know how you go.

BTW love your wedding photo... there is a thread in the lounge on the face behind the post I only found out about yesterda off of peaches but you can put photos up to show who you are etc. It has a password so you need to get it off of dingbat by emailing her. I just put photo up today of my wedding and my big puppy dog. Anyway sorry to get off topic... hope you get some answers soon.
