CONCLUSIONS
The 6–17 yr of age patients with CD appear to have a more complicated disease course compared to 0–5 yr of age children. The 0–5 yr of age group may represent a unique disease phenotype and benefit from different approaches to management. Long-term prospective studies are required to validate these findings.

So sometimes younger is better

I was diagnosed when I was 2 years old and I think it was a really good thing. Crohns is normal to me. I couldn't imagine living a "normal" life for most of my life and then having to get used to crohns. Oh, and now I've gotten so used to it that it doesn't really affect my life anymore. Imagine being 40 years old with a good job, nice house, etc and then losing it all because you came down with severe crohns? Because I tackled mine early in life I'll still have a chance at all that.

Kwalker - thanks for posting - my daughter lucy was diagnosed at 2 and it has been and continues to be a struggle to get her into any kind of remission. It is really heartening to read that you are doing well. Thanks

How old is your daughter? If she is the girl in your picture than she looks pretty young still. I'm 22 so I've "celebrated" 20 years with crohns. Most people don't believe that I've had something for 20 years when I'm as young as I am. If your daughter's anything like me than I promise you it will be better in the end, once she's older.

Like I said above, this is normal to me. Going to the bathroom and never having a solid BM is normal. I could not imagine living a "normal" life and then developing crohns. I would think that would make things so much worse for a person

So reasuring to hear your story kwalker lewis was dx age 5 but should of been dx age 2 when he got his first abscess, but it took along time and a rocky road and I always say to myself now he.ll grow up with it and he.ll no how to manage when he has flare ups when he goes through the hard years of being a teen, he's on infliximab and ding really well the diference after two treatments is astonishing . Good luck to u all.x

I personally think being diagnosed so young was the best thing that could have came from crohns. People usually say the first while a person has crohns is the worst so I look at it like you get that out of the way (atleast I did) while I was young. Look at me now, I'm at university 50+ hours a week and not even taking medicine! Don't sell yourselves short. Anything is possible! :)
