Yucky Question: Splashback?

So, how do you empty your pouch? I'm still apparently quite clumsy at it as I'm getting far too much splashback...and it grosses me out.

I've tried sitting ... and manage to drip onto my clothes either on the way up or down. Tried standing, with and without tissue to aim for...splat. Working my leg muscles to get right close to the bowl...splat. You get the idea.

What works for you?

I would either sit down near the back of the loo seat, point the opening between my legs and then undo it.

Or, if I was at home I'd empty it kneeling down.

It does take a bit of practice to stop the splash back!!

I kneel at home and do the half-squat-half-stand in a public toilet. I can't do the sitting on the toilet bit; way too much mess. Splashback is the worst..... especially if it lands on your face!

I've been meaning to ask this... I find kneeling best but still have the occasional splash back, but it really grosses me out to have to do this in public loos. I now try a squat in public loos but always get slightly freaked out i might get huge splash back and get it on my leggings etc..

I use closed-end pouches in two piece system. I remove the bag and empty it from the part that attaches to the flange. This way, I move how I want and don't get much splashes from it as I can empty it at the water level if I wish to. I don't encounter problem doing it that way except if I have very watery output (which is harder to manage when I take the bag off). I can't stand emptying from the bottom, cleaning and rolling the thing, dropping the clip in the toilet (back in the day with hollister)...gaahhh.

I try and aim for the porcelain.
I sit at home and stand when out.
I was on on a date a few months back and had some splash land on my forehead at the hair line. It was mortifying.
I often drip on the seat by accident too.
Things can end up very messy sometimes.

I put some toilet paper on the front of the toilet and sit down. I then aim for the tp and rarely ever have issues.

I did a google search and found a bunch for sale anywhere from $9 bucks to $80 for the industrial size box. They have them in our lav's at work, so I'm lucky enough not to have to buy any. I'm not sure which companies will ship to the UK, so might be easiest for you to do a search for 'toilet seat covers' and find one that fits your needs.

I have always wondered what it would be like to empty my bag in a toilet in the USA. As your toilets are like sitting on top of a great big lake of water! Luckily the the toilet in the UK, it's easy to aim for the kind of front of the toilet where it isn't touched by water.

But then sometimes I have the problem where the output will then cling on to the side of the toilet for dear life when I flush. I usually just put toilet paper down first and aim on top of that so it all washes away together! No splash back problems with that!

I kneel at home and squat when in public. I recently did a cruise around the med and had to use a toilet whilst in Greece (Santorini), and for the cost of a couple of euros, I entered the toilet to find a hole in the ground. I had no choice, but to use it and I wish it was only splashback that I got, because I left that toilet absolutely covered. My aim was way off :lol2: and it was almost impossible to use. Thankfully, that was the only toilet I encountered on my trip that was like that.

I always flush just before I empty. This eliminates any splashback for me, and it also means that, although having to flush twice, the output is not sitting in the toilet for too long. That incident in Greece was the only time I have ever encountered SB since 1999.

(When I say 1999, I don't mean that I vividly remember a particularly traumatizing episode of splashback that occurred during that specific year. That was the year I had my stoma formed is what I mean :)

I stand/ squat at the toilet, and aim for the front of the bowl. First I drop a few tissues in so it doesn't cling. My biggest problem, like Samboi, is the drops on the toilet seat. I'm a bit gassy at times, and these are the hardest empty.that is the middle of the night balloon bag. The only way to avoid a mess is to squat down, lean in, and release to closure and hold on tight as the contents are jet propelled into the loo. I always have a giggle even when I'm still asleep.

I stand over the toilet and empty my bag. I put a wad of tp in first and that seems to help with splashback... But it does happen... Running down my legs...gross! I keep plenty of Townes and soap close by!

I sit on the side of the toilet and empty off to the right. Seems to be the only way I can do it but splashback is a problem. Usually find I have to clean the loo, including under the seat after. Consequently I avoid public toilets whenever I can.
I think toilets in the USA would be a lot harder cos your water level is much higher. Splashback is more likely to reach me than the toilet.
To be honest and I am well over worrying about splash back. Cleaning up after is second habit. :)
