    Sourdough and gluten

Hi there, thank you so much for this! I can't believe it's been over a year since this post, time flies. So, in the last year I made gluten-free bread for Easter, and then I made lower-gluten einkorn rolls for a favorite celebration at our house. I haven't tried making sour-dough anything, yet...

    Anyone tried Thrive probiotics?

Thank you, interesting and good to know :)

    Anyone tried Thrive probiotics?

No I haven't tried them yet. Things have been hectic and I tend to contemplate things I want to try for a while. And then I have to decide which part of the budget something of that size is coming from. 😆 And also, I had my baby! So I'm recovering. :) But if I do try them, I will let you know.

Can you eat dark chocolate and drink coffee without any problems?

I used to drink coffee like mad when I worked in a coffee shop (and yes, those fancy drinks have all kinds of nasty things in them people w/Crohn's shouldn't consume, wouldn't be surprised if it contributed to the development of my illness), however, I have to say, for me, the coffee itself...

    Anyone tried Thrive probiotics?

Hello friends, has anyone tried JustThrive probiotics? They are pricey, but they have a great reputation. I was wondering if anyone had tried them and had found them helpful to maintain remission of Crohn's or UC. I'm considering taking them myself as well as giving them to my kids.

For those who have done EEN, what is your selection of the formula?

I imagine it could work, but I am not aware of any research about that to tell us either way.

For those who have done EEN, what is your selection of the formula?

Does it work if you are doing a rotation of brands? I did do a rotation of flavors within the same brand, but I didn't rotate between brands. I tried Modulen later down the line, after I had finished EEN, when I was doing 25% EN.

    Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet

Oh, and calprotectin too, that's a pretty good indicator, even if it's still not as great as imaging.

    Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet

Yeah I know, it's a lot of info to take in. I figure if I'm having good BMs every day and I'm not in pain, then I'm at least doing okay, and will have a colonoscopy again when I can. I mean, I lived not knowing I had Crohn's for decades (there were signs I didn't recognize), so I'm not gonna...

For those who have done EEN, what is your selection of the formula?

Well, part of the trick was drinking a load of water, but I found it tough when I was already drinking so much liquid every day. my GI said I could use Miralax, which isn't my favorite, but I used it a few times. I think I also drank prune juice a few times, but tbh, I can't quite remember now...

For those who have done EEN, what is your selection of the formula?

(and note, I was constipated the whole time I was on EEN)

For those who have done EEN, what is your selection of the formula?

Let me point out, though, that just because a formula contains milk protein, it doesn't mean it contains lactose. I'm quite lactose intolerant. Lactose and peanuts are the only two things that give me diarrhea, but I drank two different milk-protein shakes because they don't have lactose (I used...

    Sourdough and gluten

Hey everyone, I used to make bread for my family every day, and it was such a beautiful ritual and tradition in our home, I stopped making it after my Dx, and after a year of not making bread, I feel like my kids still have not gotten past missing bread at the table. I just haven't had the...

    What's helping me right now

Hey all, I wanted to share this smoothie recipe that has been helping me have great BMs for the last 6 months or so. I was making it every morning until I fried my blender, and using a immersion blender hasn't been as conducive, but I try to eat the components every day, if nothing else: I...

    Ending EEN

Yeah, and I think the reason it hasn't been studied for much longer than that (I thought I saw 12-wk studies? maybe?) is just because you get so sick and tired of it, most people don't have the will power to go that long. I know I wouldn't! I did 6 weeks EEN and probably just over 6 weeks 50/50.

    Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet

I have looked at the Crohn's disease elimination diet pretty closely, because the nutritionist I worked with suggested it. Honestly, when I compare SCD to CDED, I see a lot of overlap, not a lot of differences. They don't really have you eating all that much rice or oats, it seems to me that the...

    Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet

No, I don't think we have the diet thing wrong, exactly. I think that there are different mechanisms that cause EEN and special diets to work--many of the drugs on the market work for many people, and they also operate through different pathways. What I think we are missing here, in my opinion...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

I'm not drinking any of them at all anymore. Both nutritional shakes made me constipated. I swapped them for the smoothies, which have been much more agreeable for my digestion. But, when I was drinking Modulen, I was mixing with water. I can't tolerate regular milk due to lactose. And I hate...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

As an update, I did end up trying Modulen, and it made me horribly constipated (the Orgain did too, tbh, but this seemed worse) and it tasted gross--I mean, waaa, cry me a river, right? but I had other options. I ended up finding a smoothie recipe that I liked, and drank that for a while instead...
