    Humira Syringe question

Hi Grant; Yes, that is what I would say as well. Turn the syringe upside down and gently push the air out... That's what I was told to do by the nurse who showed me how to do the injection.

    Shingles and on Humira

Hi everyone Just wondering your thoughts as two doctors and a pharmacist can't give me a straight answer... I'm a week overdue on my Humira shot now, and a few days ago developed and was diagnosed with shingles. It's being treated with a 7-day run of famciclovir (I'm on Day 2). Should I put...

Spending my 30th in the hospital...

Happy Birthday, and sorry to hear you are stuck in the hospital. That totally sucks! I can sympathize, I spent my 25th there, and my 30th is coming up in a few months so I hope I'll be free and clear! :) You'll be out soon enough and then you can celebrate!

Numbness in legs and pretty much all over

Hmmm, I'd definitely bring it up to a doc to make sure it isn't anything serious. I did have similar issues (left leg going numb) when walking/standing, but it turned out it was a pinched nerve. A few visits to the massage therapist and I was good.

    Alcohol and Crohn's

Hey Tom, When I was flaring, I cut out alcohol completely - it definitely was a trigger for even worse symptoms. Now that I'm in remission with Humira, I can drink more regularly. But, for me, 'regularly' is what most people probably call 'occasionally' - maybe twice a month. I got really...

    #*%@!! toothache.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the gums, and the prescribed sobriety. Well, hey, you should be good to go for New Years, you'll just have to make up for those 3 parties. :P Not sure about T.O., but the 2/3 of the hockey arena here was curtained off for the show. Wye Oak was good, but they all...

    Humira

Hey, HB... I totally understand, I was very nervous for my loading doses as well. Try not to worry about it too much - you might feel a sting from the injections, but you should be fine immediately afterwards - no lasting effects. I hope it starts working soon for you!

    Ulcer on my eye

Oh, Joany! That sucks the big one. Sorry to hear about your goopy eye, I hope it stops hurting and starts healing up real soon!! How's your Crohn's symptoms, are those staying under control at least? Get lots of rest! Me, I'm doing well health-wise, thanks for asking... :) Dreading...

Good and bad days oh humira

Kailyn - Hey, I'm on Humira, too. One injection every two weeks. I also have some bad days - mostly good ones, though. The bad days seem to come around when I'm expecting my period and during it. I've just been dealing with the bad days as they come. I consider myself in remission.

    #*%@!! toothache.

Ahhhh! No way! What did you think of the show?? I saw that show here in Montreal on the 9th... The National are one of my favorite bands of the 2000's.

    Colonoscopy questions

Hope the prep is going well, Tom! :) I agree, as everyone else said, the prep taste and effects are yucky... the scope itself, not so bad... treating yourself to something delicious when you're done - most def. the best part!!

Mental Status Changes (Accompanying Increase Dose)

Wow, K, that is some pretty scary stuff. I don't have fistulas, but from what I seem to read around here is that biologics are the best for healing them. Is there particular reason you want to avoid them, or are you just freaked out by them? I was too, and put off trying for Humira for a year...

    Prep day!

Once I woke up, I looked up and saw the screen and realised what was going on, that's when it started hurting... And I said, "Ow, it hurts!".. According to the report I got afterwards, it looks like they gave me 50 more mcgs of fentanyl and 2 more mg of versed once I woke up. Then I was awake...

    Prep day!

Thanks, scope is over and I'm feeling back to normal... I woke up during it, again, and was REALLY uncomfortable. Doc says all looks OK save for some minor inflammation in my TI. Continue with the Humira and follow up in a few months.

    Horrible Heartburn

Heartburn is only an issue for me when taking prednisone... I'll take Ranitidine while I'm on steroids, but once I taper I discontinue the Ranitidine.

    Prep day!

Thanks guys! It's going well so far, the Pico only took about an hour to kick in, and now things are really movin'... :P Bamboling, the Pico Salax prep is a powder you mix with water, it has magnesium oxide and citric acid, and in water they make magnesium citrate... But, you only drink 150...
