    Anyone here strength train?

I have lifted for a long time, and even when I was diagnosed with Crohns, I never stopped. Ok I had to re-evaluate my routines and cut back un necessary exercises to focus my limited energy on what mattered to me for my goals. These days I have my perfect routine that works well for me, and...

    Breakfast! :-) What to have!

Chicken breasts a few green veggies and olive oil, one of the very few meals that sits well with me, and makes me feel good. Every mornings the same, except sat or sun, when I go full fry up, obviously I suffer all day after, but once a week I'm cool with that.

    Hernia post op

Hi all, I had a re-section last April, and all went well, recovery was fairly standard, but about 4 months ago I noticed a solid lump right next to my belly button, where my wound is. I visited my GP and he said my abdominal wall had been weakened from the surgery and my intestine was slightly...

    Crohns back already?????

I am 4 months post op, and it has only really been in the last month that I feel "normal" again, including bowels movements, which are still hit and miss for constancy to be honest. Your are not alone, I experienced everything you have as well. I still flare up a fair bit, but then all we have...

Pain relief post-surgery - Pump or Epidural?

Pump was fine, I did not want an epi. I squeezed that bad boy every 6 mins, plus they gave me co-code mol every 4 hours. To be honest the pain from the actual cuts is not great, but the bruising that comes a few days after is far worse, and the epi will be over by then. it seems bad at the time...

10 weeks post op, my experience

I forgot to add, that my "trigger foods" still mess me up, so I steer clear of baked potatoes, roast potatoes and Chinese food.

10 weeks post op, my experience

Hi all, I thought it might help others looking for experience type threads, for me to write up about what happened to me. Short history - I was rushed to hospital June 2011 with stomach pains so bad, I thought my time was up. Anyway I was diagnosed with Crohns, and told that I had a stricture...

    Confused...

How long ago was your surgery? I'm only 3 weeks post op, from having a fair section of my TI removed as well. I am tired all the time, and have urgent bm all throughout the day, but m weight is stable. Are you eating calorie dense food 12 times per day? Also I guess it goes without saying, if...

Low residue after surgery-question about pain!

Well he would not give me anything. I do however have to take him a stool sample, nice! It's so annoying, I don't want to go out anywhere just in case. Oh well, I guess all that can be done, is to make the best of what we have, and be as positive as we can. Hope you are well. J

    Normal Bowel Movements after resection

Hey RG, funnily enough, I have just come back from seeing my GP about the urgency and loosness since my op 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately he is unwilling to give me anything, and it looks like I jus have to wait until I can see my consultant in July. This sucks, as before I had the op, my bm were...

Low residue after surgery-question about pain!

Hi Mia, Yes, that has been on my mind, luckily most of the time I am in my normal office, I manage an IT service desk, which is stressful, but physically easy. Funnily, I was just re-reading my recovery leaflet, which was provided to me by the hospital, and it states that if the D is still bad...

Low residue after surgery-question about pain!

I feel your pain Mia, it seems like 2 steps forward, one back all the time with recovery. My wound is now sealed, finally, but now I feel dizzy and tired a lot. My boss wants me back in work next week, which is 4 weeks pots op, but I'm worried I won't be ready. I will be sure to mention my b12...

    Wish me luck :(

I struggled to do much for myself apart from sit and lay down, for the first 8 days, then it got better. I have to say though, my surgeon told me that males under 40, suffer far worse after laproscopic surgery, than any other age group for both men and women, so I'm sure you will be much quicker...

    Wish me luck :(

Wishing you luck, it is very nerve racking, but will be all over before you know it, and worth the nerves.

Low residue after surgery-question about pain!

Hi Mia, I had 30 cm of ileum removed, as well as 2cm of large intestine, just to be sure. I have my follow up appointment in 12 weeks, I'm hoping that by then, I will be vastly improved. I am finding, that anything other than lean protein, is causing me to feel very tired as well as "urgent"...

    Weight Loss

My stricture also did not give me enough grief to blunt my appetite at all. I had to just fast during the day, when away on business, just so that I did not have to visit the loo 10 times a day. I then feasted later a night, which was not good. Anyway, I did not loose a single pound in hospital...

Low residue after surgery-question about pain!

Is everybody pretty much in agreement, that 3 months post op is the point at which our guts should be good to go? Earlier in this post, I "bragged" that I was able to eat whatever, but the last few days, anything rich in either carbs and/or fat, is giving me severe D. Also my insides gurgle and...

Surgery- easier or harder than you expected?

I'm not sure that I can really add much more, but I thought that for the first few hours when I woke up, it was harder than I thought, and I began to regret having the op. However each day there after, gets easier and easier, then when I looked back, I realise that, bearing in mind what my body...

    First Bowel Resection

Hi Grugsley, I am only into day 10 of my recovery, but each day gets slightly easier. I hope that once recovery is all done, the op will be worth it. I totally understand where you are right now, my biggest fear was waking up, and feeling a bag on me, but I needn't have feared anything, it all...

    Prep before surgery??

Same as Archie, 3 high calorie drinks the day before, nothing after midnight. I also had to drink an entire bottle of Infacol, and a high carb drink 2 hours before the op, which made me feel sick mic zed with my nerves. Good luck Kimmy. J
