    Side effects sound scary

Ricky V, I noticed Renee takes "VSL daily probiotic". I them as well, and I think it stabilizes me and helps improve my immunity. Starting with the envelopes with the super doses you mix, I now just take one capsule a day (112.5 billion). It's somewhat expensive--$50 for 60 days--but well worth...

    Side effects sound scary

I was on Pentasa for 15 or 20 years with no symptoms. When my GI tried Azathioprine I immediately broke out with an impressive rash on my lower arms. I walked into his office without an appointment and showed my arms to his nurse and she actually stepped back. My GI was even surprised, and he...

Bumps under skin - any ideas what they are?

Psoriasis became an issue with me maybe 15 years ago when I was still on Pentasa. I'd get patches of discolored son that itched and sometimes hurt. After switching to Humira about four years ago I began to get sores that started as bumps under the skin. Then they'd start to hurt, turn into a...

    Prednisone or Pentasa side effect?

Not sure I've seen it mentioned here, but being on Prednisone elevated my mood and gave me energy. I would get up early on Saturday and have four or five loads of laundry out on the line by 9 am during the summer. And it made me almost jubilant. Maybe give it a few days? I was on Pentasa for...

    Crohn's and gallbladder?

I didn't know this, and I'm going to do my best to forget it. But just in case, what are the symptoms of gall bladder trouble, so as to distinguish from Crohns??

    The Worst Part of Crohns

These days the worst thing about Crohns for me is that I'm losing things I can safely eat and drink. So lucky for so long after an ileostomy and reconnect in 1982, in the last 10 years I've had to stop drinking coffee, eating ice cream and even avoiding Irish Cream over ice (aaarrgghhh). Even...

Is my cold dangerous to someone with compromised immunity?

eleanor_rigby, I was told I couldn't get the shingles vaccine because I was on Humira (is there a discussion thread here about this?) but I had to look up the pneumonia vaccine. See below. Note the part about people with weakened immune systems...

What books have you been reading?

"At the Highest Levels" by Michael Beschloss. Sub titled The Inside Story of Bush, Gorbachev, the End of the Cold War. It's always fascinating to read about historical moments we lived through 10 or 15 later. It shows how superficial newspapers and TV news are, and why most people (and voters)...

    Prayer and Spiritual Support

Prayers for you, Sandy, and for all of us with these barely manageable diseases. They put us on our knees with little control and we have to trust Him. That's a gift in itself. This link below is what I embrace in my heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dR0H0tAYT8

    Humira no longer working

AmyH, can you give us an example of a anti-inflammatory diet? I'd love to try it. I'm pretty stable on Humira, but I'm still not entirely normal.

    Surgery today :(

I just had a stone surgically removed about a month ago. This one blocked me from urinating, but I was able to go just enough to last until the procedure. I've been meaning to ask if stones are a Crohn's byproduct, or a side effect of one of the medicines. Docs tell me our stones ARE UNIQUE.

Diagnosed at age 50 & over Support Group

RNGirl, I was diagnosed at 31 and was on other meds for years. I started Humira at about your age and its going to be 3 years in November. It works well, but has given me some psoriasis. Get yourself stabilized and you can live a normal life. And you have these wonderful people on this board to...

    Wondeful crohns

I was going to ask about your history with meds, too, honestlylovable. It doesn't sound like you've been on much of anything, but you must have been. I was on azulphidine for a while (and probably a few other things), and then Pentasa for 15 years or more. At each stage, it was like Crohn's...

    Moving From Humira to REMICADE

Thanks, Tony and Layla. Knowing people who have made the switch makes it easier. I'm thinking seriously about going to Remicade just so I can retire. Humira is still working, but I can't afford my after Medicare portion after retiring. Plus I'd have to come up with 7 or $8000 in January and...

    Colonoscopy question

You can always get through things better when you assign meaning to them, so I scheduled my next colonoscopy for election day on November 8th. I vote early. With CD I've had a very fast system. I start the procedure around 6. By 10 I am worn out and cleaned out. Then I get up at 4 or 5...

What books have you been reading?

I just read the Cursed Child play and thought it very good. Enjoyed the whole series; there's always more in the books. But you can hardly fault the movies, also gems.

    Will Humira Go Generic?

Thank you, xeridea. I called, they signed me up for Humira Complete and a Nurse Ambassador will be calling within a day. I had not heard of this service either from my GI and his nurse, nor in my research. I will keep the board posted in my journey to find that lost city called retirement.

Is anyone being successfully treated on just Humira?

A dermatologist calls it psoriasis, but its crusty patches that itch; pimple type things that burst; and spots that spread everywhere. I was prescribed a tub of something that helps knock them down, but it doesn't go away. A great bother.

Is anyone being successfully treated on just Humira?

I also am on Humira alone for my Crohns and doing well, but have a lot of skin issues as a result.

    Shortness of breath and humira?

I had never had panic attacks, and I'm not sure this is Humira related, but I know what you're talking about. It's not exercise related, it's like an anxiety rush, like your normal life is too busy. I used to be proud of being able to multitask, but now I'm a little wary.
