    Infliximab advise needed!

I am unclear as to how long you were on remicade the first time. I see you had a traumatic event on your fourth infusion. Did you stop the remicade after that infusion and then restart ecently?

    Ibuprophen or ? achilles tendonitis/Crohn's

He backpacked 23 miles (2.5 days) in mountains before getting it and then backpacked 15 more miles (3 days) in mountains after he noticed the swelling so it seems to be related to that. I will look up volteran.

My son (25) is no longer a kid but I trust you guys so I'm posting here.... He has achilles tendonitis and everything he reads saysn "Take ibuprophen" but his GI doctors have always said, "Don't take ibuprophen." Is there a good anti-inflammatory med he could take? Can he safely take some...

    Help my 5 year old

I can't say what's going on with your child but focal villous blunting and crypt hyperplasia are seen in Celiac disease. Was your child on a diet containing gluten when the celiac test was done? Also 10% of people with Celiac apparently have negative blood tests. The biopsy is not normal so...

Does your insurance pay for Remicade levels/ antibody tests?

I am wondering if anyone has had luck getting insurances to pay for 1. Remicade levels 2. Remicade antibody levels. It looks like my son's insurance policy is to NOT pay. ..considers measurements of serum levels of infliximab and antibodies to infliximab (human anti-chimeric antibodies (HACA))...

article - IBD Patients in remission Can Safely Switch to Infliximab Biosimilar

I wonder when insurance companies will start requiring patients to switch. I definitely have a concern about bioequivalency. There are generic drugs [not biologics] made in factories in India or China where there have been issues including unsanitary conditions, poor quality control and worse...

    Sons condition worsening on Remicade

I wanted to say that my young adult son has complained of fatigue and brain fog post remicade; he appears to be in remission per labs, weight, lack of significant gi symptoms.

    GI with milder treatment philosophy/approach

I am responding to this: "While we love(yes) the science behind biologics, they loose effectiveness unpredictably. Additionally, our son is at a prime age of growth including pubertal growth and not sure if there is enough research on biologics and teenage growths." Children with Crohn's grow...

High Temp is normal with Crohns?

Sometimes people need to have several blood cultures before an occult infection is identified. Why do her doctors think she is so anemic? What did the doctors think was causing blood in her urine? Has she had an ECHO of her heart? Bacterial endocarditis is a fairly common cause of fever...

Thiamine and fatigue in inflammatory bowel diseases: an open-label pilot study.

@mackraslo I am wondering if the high dose thiamine helped your fatigue? Thanks!

High Temp is normal with Crohns?

I would be concerned about an infection. What test have been done? Has she had blood cultures, urine culture, chest xray, abdominal imaging ? Does she have abdominal pain or pain in another place?

Do you get hydrocortisone premed w/ REMICADE?

My son has always got hydrocortisone pre remicade infusion. His new doctor wrote an order for tylenol and benadryl but no steroid. I am curious if you guys get hydrocortisone or another IV steroid prior to the remicade infusion. [The nurse said the doctor doesn't use steroids but the doctor...

Home Remicade infusions- pros/cons/ your experience?

I am looking for your thoughts and experiences. Insurance has said they will not reauthorize his current site and I think they are pushing home infusions.

    Deeply concerned

I am not aware of bilirubin causing high bp or heartburn. However elevated bilirubin suggests some abnormal liver or gall bladder function or increased break down of red blood cells. I would find out what your other liver function tests were and speak with your doctor soon, so you can discuss...

Being driven crazy by remicade authorization

Got the old order canceled. Now need the new order. Just handed it off to my husband. Why does it need to be so hard? If my son needed to do this, he'd just go without medication... I wonder how many people have a delay in meds because of this rigamarole.

Being driven crazy by remicade authorization

Yes my son signed so I can speak with the office. The doctor's office is extremely slow --like calls you back in 5 days. I want to cry because after this infusion, my son wants to get it in our town, so another doctor (who he saw a few times in the past before he started Remicade) and we'll...

Being driven crazy by remicade authorization

So my son (now an adult) moved from State A to State B. In State A, he had been on Remicade for >1 year. In State B, he had Remicade twice. My son decided he didn't want to live in State B, so moved back to State A precipitously 3 weeks ago. As soon as he moved, I called his old GI doctor...
