    Update

This is what our GI and GI nurse told us too. I'm so glad that we did not listen to him. If we did right now my son would be on Imuran and prednisone, and very likely dealing with how those drugs make you feel. His disease was diagnosed very quickly and we went gluten free almost...

    Side effects from Mesalamine apriso

Hi Lorie, welcome. My 16 year old son has been on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for 5 months. He is doing very well on it and is very strict at staying on it, I know that quite a few people here have tried it (or a variation of it), but have found it too hard to stick too, I think it was...

    Weird question

okay, back to December's question. My son has fistulas (I have not looked at them, but he has drawn me pics). He originally had an abscess that was very painful during bm's and to sit down on. About 3 months later, after being on antibiotics his abscess spontaneously burst and he started...

The specific carbohydrate diet seems kinda scary

Hi Will, It sounds like you've been through a really rough time. What drugs are you on right now? In my opinion your starting diet looks okay, the chicken broth soup is really good for you. Try to get your eggs from a place that sells free run or organic eggs, the omega 3's are much higher...

    What Did Santa Bring?

hey GJG it's illegal in BC and Alberta for gift cards to have an expiry date on them - go use it! Sorry - no advice for the ski cap (that's not what you're wearing in your pic is it?) Maybe regift it next year.

    Just Need a Good Cry...

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with a fistula for that long, how frustrating that must be for you. I have done a lot of research on fistulas as my son has one also, (I'm sure you have too). How are you feeling other than the fistula? It's my personal belief that the fistula can not...

    Light Headed?

I get it all the time, and I know it's from low blood pressure, have always had it (since high school). Better to be on the low side than high, Dr's always monitored it quite carefully through all 3 of my pregnancies, for some reason it always went lower then.

    Convincing your doctor

Also, I think Shaz had some info on LDN reports that she was willing to share, maybe she'll check in or give her a pm. Good luck.

    The Farm fan club.

I'm a Farm fan too, I know I don't post on here a whole lot but I always find time to read the threads where Farm has posted. Between your pride in your son and your encouragement for others and your hilarious posts you're a great guy. Oh, and besides that we want the same thing for Christmas...

    My Crohn's

Yeah, someone from my corner of the world - we're practically neighbors. Welcome, did you switch GI's because of going away from a pediatric GI and on to a regular GI? Just wondering because my son is 16 and I'm assuming he'll have to do that within a year or two. Can't help you with the meds...

    LDN advice

Hi Phillycrohn's Sorry, I can't help you re the medications, Dan as always has done a great job explaining how it works. But in regards to your diet, if you are trying to combine SCD with LDN you're diet still has a lot of what is considered di-sacharide carbs or 2 sugar (as opposed to the mono...

    Hypnosis for Crohn's Disease

I think it's a great idea Lishy - whatever works right? My husband did some hypnosis for his needle phobia, I was quite surprised when it really worked, he still is not fond of them, but at least he doesn't pass out anymore (probably not supposed to share this on a public forum - sorry hun).

New from Ontrio Canada, My story.

Hey welcome Fog. I had to come on post about the chocolate. When my son was first diagnosed with Crohn's, he went on a pretty restricted diet right away but chocolate was the one thing he could not give up and it always gave him problems. So we experimented a bit and found it's not the...

    Health Care Rant...

Speaking from a Canadian point of view I'm pretty happy with our health care system, as said previously it has it's good points and bad points. In BC everyone has to pay a Medical Service's Plan premium, for a family of 3 or more it is $108 / month. We have never had to pay this as either...

    SCD Diet

hey CrohnsHobo, my 16 year old son is on SCD, I went on it in the beginning too, to give him moral support, now I cook mainly SCD but adding in things for the rest of the family (I don't enjoy cooking 2 meals). I've said a few times that I think it's easier to go on it if someone else is...
