    Totally aggravated

Canasa are prescription anti-inflammatory suppositories and Rowasa is a prescription anti-inflammatory enema (same medicine - Mesalamine). I use the Rowasa enemas to keep the inflammation down. I have ulcerative colitis. Hang in there. We have all been in your shoes at one time or another...

    Crohn's Diagnosis Retracted

Hi, Jill. I have ulcerative colitis and my colonoscopy biopsies have always come up normal, with slight inflammation. I usually have pretty long periods of remission and then a really bad flare with lots of D and blood. I don't usually have mucous. I would really stay on top of it, because...

    Steroids and Late Menstrual Cycle

Hi, Ladies. I am wondering if anyone else has had their period come (or not come) really late when they were on steroid cream/suppositories/enemas/or pills. I currently started steroid cream (about three weeks ago) to help with swelling "down there." I should have had my period two weeks...

    Strange Flare

I would go to a GI doctor ASAP! I ignored my blood in early February and tried to wait it out, and I had the worst flare that I ever had (in about 20 yrs. having UC). I am just now finally starting to feel better. I am not typically one who runs to the doctor, as I am usually in remission...

    LDN 5 years later

It is very possible that the weight loss and loss of appetite is from his flare. I have lost 20-25 lbs - way too much on my normal 130lb. frame during a recent ulcerative colitis flare. I do not take LDN. When you're flaring, the food moves so quickly through/out of you that your body isn't...

    Anyone take apriso?

Hi TR45, sorry I didn't see your response until today. I am taking 4 pills a day also. My dose is split - 2 in the morning and two later in the day. The four in the morning made me unable to function (tiredness).

    Anyone take apriso?

Aloysius, I am extremely tired too since starting Apriso. Jennjenn do you notice any tiredness or other side-effects? I have been taking them for almost two weeks now, and am going to the bathroom 4x a day instead of 6-7x a day, but still have blood. My doctor said 1-3 weeks to see a big...

I don't know what to do...

Hi Akanderson. I feel so bad that you can't get the nedical help that you need. Have they treated you for your abscess/fistula at the ER? I have been going through a lot of the same emotions and tiredness, as my UC is really flaring badly now. I have two young daughters also. You have to...

    What can i do

Hi, Sineorah, and welcome. I haven't tried Remicade. I hope that it starts working for you. It's really hard when you can't sleep. Are you in a lot of pain?

    Anxiety vs. Depression

Hi Michele. It definitely sounds like panic attacks. I used to have them (for many years). I was able to get them under control by stopping birth control pills, stopping all sugar and caffeine, and learning relaxation techniques. I will be 40 this year and haven't had any panic attacks, but...

    UC and Weight

Hi, Andrew. I have UC and am having a pretty bad flare right now and have lost 20 lbs. over the past 6 months. Usually I stay the same weight, unless I'm flaring (which isn't too often). I am normally around 125-130lbs. and I'm around 5'4" tall. That's a pretty "normal" weight for a woman my...

    Anyone take apriso?

I just started Apriso yesterday. How is it working for you? It is making me a bit tired and I have a very dry mouth. I also get warm/tingly about an hour after taking it. I talked to my doctor and he doesn't think it's anything to worry about. It's too soon to say if it's working yet. I...

List of current symptoms, want opinions

It sounds a lot like my ulcerative colitis flares too - blood, diarrhea, mucous, etc... The dizziness might be from dehydration or low iron, which is common with both crohns and uc.

    Apriso anyone?

Or other 5-ASA meds??? I want to try again and broaden the input. Does anyone have information on Apriso, Lialda, or any of the other mesalamine medicines. Experiences, how long it takes to kick in, etc... Thanks everyone!

    New. Here's my story.

Hi Marina, and welcome. I have had UC for around 20 years and still get angry, scared, and frustrated when I'm flaring. It's normal and expected for you to be emotional - crying, angry, frustrated, scared, etc... at times with IBD. Everyone still reassures me that things are okay, but when...

    Apriso anyone?

I just started Apriso today and am in the middle of a bad flare (UC). I am having a lot of blood and am also using Rowasa enemas for the bottom part of my colon, which works well but doesn't get up high enough for my current flare. I am really scared because my UC flares are usually much...
