    Who would you see?

Oh Lauren, I can see why you feel like a lab rat. Are you starting or in a flare by any chance.

    Who would you see?

Hi Lauren, My GP takes care of all the blood work for me. I supplement accordingly. I'm on 3,000 iu/day of vitamin D and B12 shots everyother month.

    Another Newbie!

Hi and welcome. Sorry you've had such a rough time. It's a lot to take in. I'd recommend going to the library and looking for books written by GI doctors. It's also good to keep a journal of what's going on and questions for the doctor. With proper treatment remission is possible...

    15 with crohns

Hi William and welcome. Sorry about your diagnosis. Depression is very common, especially when first diagnosed. There is help, talk to your doctor about it. Give yourself time to adjust. Check out the young adults subforum. You're definitely not alone. Sending you my support.

Hi and welcome. I can't post links on my handheld device but I recently read the chance of children getting IBD is about 10%. I'd suggest checking out Crohn's and colitis foundation of America. Ccfa.com. They have lots of great info. Sending you my support.

Crohns - Considering ileostomy or Stelara

At its worst it was pretty much everywhere. I don't have much intestine left. I am now on Remicade after my last extended flare with complications and surgery. I'm doing very well on it. I wish it was am option 35+ years ago. Crohn's complications are horrible.

    Mucus

    I don't know with certainty.

    Mucus

Inflammation can cause mucus. I've had lots of that when I'm in a flare.

Is it Crohn's or colitis? (positive lactoferrin)

Hi 1975, Forgive me if you're already aware of this...just to clarify. Crohn's can effect the entire digestive track (mouth to anus). Colitis is simply inflammation of the colon. That could be any number of things. The gold standard for diagnosis is a colonoscopy with biopsies. That will...

Crohns - Considering ileostomy or Stelara

Hi brendas, I got my permanent ileostomy 30 years ago. Not of the treatments worked and I did eventually get a 20 year remission with no meds. That said, a permanent ileostomy is no guarantee you won't need meds again. Unfortunately it isn't a cure for Crohn's. My ileostomy gave me my life...

    Permanent ileostomy....

Hi Gareth. Glad you're starting to feel better. I can't explain the stomach cramps/pain beyond it being related to the surgery. Feeling like you need to go with the rectum gone is fairly common. I still get it occasionally 20+ years later. Things are still fresh and swollen. Talk to the doctor...
