Flare up or bowel obstruction?

I was wondering if someone could help diagnose my symptoms. I've been having back spasms for about a week now, and bad cramping around my lower waist/stomach. I've also had constipation, blood and mucas in my stools and when I go to the toilet or randomly I hear popping sounds in my colon and shifting noises, like something is stuck trying to go through.

I've been taking prednisone steroids but it doesn't seem to be shifting it, it's just helping me pass stools a little better, but the bad back spasms and burning in my back and cramps in my stomach and the noises aren't going.

Can someone help? Does this sound like a bowel obstruction? :sign0085:

Hi,

I could be partially obstructed. I strongly recommend you call the doctors office and see what the doctor says.

Sounds like a partial obstruction since you're still passing some stool but if your pain gets extreme, you start vomiting, or develop a fever etc then you'll need to go to the hospital. Have you heard back from your doctor yet?

Just an update: the steroids have cleared the back pain almost and the cramping, but I'm still not passing stools much at all. I've been feeling gassy and sick, not sure if it's the flare up or a bowel obstruction. Saw a doctor and he blamed a urine infection, which wasn't exactly helpful.

Was that a GI doctor you saw? Is your abdomen visibly distended and hard? Are you following a low residue diet or a liquid diet?
