    Ovarian Failure

That is really sad to hear. What a cruel disease. Is the doc saying anything about prognosis or treatability?

Want to work but SO anxious

Don't beat yourself up DJW: Crohn's is already doing that for you! We get that message so much that we're supposed to be able to control our health and that it's a personal fault of some kind to be sick. Drives me crazy. (I'm going to resist the urge to really rant now.) Good luck. If...

    How are you feeling today?

So frustrated today. I had to be really on my game at work and it wasn't easy having to run off with D throughout the day. I've been eating decently, managing stress decently, and whammo. Grrr......

    Ring of fire

I switched to toilet paper with a touch of aloe in it and it seems to help when the going gets rough...

    Dabbling vs. all-in for diets?

It's a good read and he's one of my favorite nonfiction authors. My take on it is that Pollan would generally agree with that view of vegetarianism being more sustainable and healthy, though he does point out the dangers of monocropping and over subsidizing of too few staples. He does allow a...

    Does watery D mean obstruction??

It's always been more pressure or bloating for me, with vomiting to relieve the pressure. Really only twice has it gotten to the point that it has felt "painful" (the two times I went to the ER).

    Need advice on flare/medication

I'm starting Remicade soon. The loading doses are at 0, 2, and 6 weeks, then every 8 weeks for maintenance. It can be done more often if it becomes clinically necessary. For me, I was told that I got no say in scheduling the first dose, but would be able to schedule with the hospital for...

What are your SAFE and UNSAFE foods?

    1) Crohn's 2) unsafe: garlic powder (other forms are fine), spicy food (I love it, but it has triggered SBOs twice) 3) watermelon, chicken

New issue i cant quite figure out if its Crohns or something else

You might want to call your GI's office and speak to your doc's medical assistant. They might be able to offer you a sooner appointment for acute care, do a brief phone consult, or put you on a list to be called last-minute if another appointment cancels.

    Advice needed from a newbie

I have some experience working in a sleep clinic in the past and lilac is spot on. Excellent list! If you're up for it, some physical activity at least 1.5 hours before bed could help tire you out and will contribute to that "cooling" effect which is indeed a trigger for falling asleep. Same...

New issue i cant quite figure out if its Crohns or something else

I wish I had more answers for you. All I can't tell you is that when I have SBOs, that's just about the timing of it. Onset is always around bedtime for me, with bloating and increasing pressure that only relieves with vomiting. I'm not even actually nauseous, it's really just the pressure.

    What Career/Job Do You Have?

It's really nice seeing how many people are so resilient and able to keep doing such challenging jobs. Love those positive posts!

Husband has crohns and we are lost

Docs sometimes poo-poo the effects of diet (saying the disease is purely autoimmune), but a lot of people with Crohn's are finding some benefit to dietary approaches such as the specific carbohydrate diet and paleo approaches. There is a lot of info on all that in the diet section of the forum...

    Does watery D mean obstruction??

For my partial obstructions, I can barely put water down let alone solid food. I don't experience pain as much as pressure, which only gets painful if it really builds up. I've heard different people talk about that differently though. Have you talked abiut additional imaging with your GI...

    Does watery D mean obstruction??

I'm sure it works lots of different ways for different people, but typically for me my SBOs feature D beforehand until everything is cleared out and then I get nothing at all passing. For me it's really the bloating to the point of having to vomit to relieve the pressure that lets me know I'm...

    Biopsy results back.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I'd recommend laying out your concerns and reservations to the doc. S/he should be able to lay out the various options available and the pros and cons of each. I was personally surprised at how responsive my GI was when I expressed similar concerns to her a few...

    Remicade Club Support Group

DaveNotRoach, I've also been looking into that too. I had resisted meds for over a year, but recently decided to start Remicade after getting a repeat MRE showing expanded inflammation. If you dig around on the threads in the Remicade section of the forum, you'll definitely find a sprinkling...

Intestinal Blockage / Obstruction Support Group

Good luck Dixiedoll. That "short life" comment from your GI sounds a little callous. I have kids too and they're a great motivator for my doing what I need to take care of myself.
