    Hi from NZ everyone

Hi Jenny, Sorry I can't really be of help as I have no idea what might be the cause. The only thing I can think of is that prednisone hampers healing, not sure if Entocort/Budesonide has the same effect. The other thing I noticed is that you're on aspirin, that's usually a nono with CD as it...

    Flair Up

Your episodes certainly sound like blockages to me, especially since you know you have a stricture. Do you know if the stricture is caused by inflammation or whether it's permanent scar tissue? If it's due to inflammation then I would think the Remi isn't working very well for you. Have you had...

    Mental Component during a blockage

Yes, braindead here too. I assumed it was due to the pain but who knows what it is. When the blockage has resolved the drain starts functioning again.

My 1st day on AMAT and how I got my funded treatment

Thanks for posting your journey, very interesting! I'm also out of options and my specialist is recommending surgery so I might ask about this. Is there anything else I should know about this treatment? I've been on all kinds of antibiotics over the years, especially when I was young, for ear...

    Alcohol with infliximab?

I was never told not to and like you I tolerate it well so I did. The only med I was warned to not drink or very little is MTX.

Is it really IBS? Through the roof symptoms

Have they ever done a stool test? A Fecal Calprotectin is an easy thing to order and could give interesting results. I also second the MRE and maybe a pill cam to look in those places where the scope can't as it doesn't sound like "just IBS" to me. What country are you in? Is a second opinion...

Post surgery bowel blockages - help, experiences, suggestions needed

I agree with Grant, he needs help now. Waiting another 2 weeks is too long and it's not just the 2 weeks, you'll be waiting a while for the MRI results too. I'd get him back to A&E and ask for an NG tube, they really do give relief, been there done that more than once. Also found that they get...

Has anyone had success long term (remission)with diet?

I've been in remission for a few years but not due to diet. Then it slowly came back, so slowly that it was diagnosed as IBS until it was clear it wasn't.

    Raised calprotectin while on pred+imuran

Yes I've had similarly low numbers which didn't worry my specialist but then an MRE came back with 30cm of inflammation. I think that may be unusual but as you see still possible. I think I remember reading somewhere that if the disease is higher up the small bowel, low CP numbers can still...

    Flat stools

Narrowing could be a sign of a stricture and I would NOT recommend anything to bulk up the stool as it may cause a blockage. Just eat light and easy to digest food and drink lots of fluids.

    Huel

Sounds interesting. How's the fibre content? I'm looking for something nutritional but low fibre, the 2 usually don't go together :(

    Kleen Prep... cannot drink it

I also realise I'm way too late but for anyone else with the same problem: I mix a sachet with a little water and once it's all mixed up I add cold pineapple juice. I really makes a world of difference, I can almost drink it without pinching my nose and I don't throw it all up the next minute...

    Immigration to Australia

Don't you have to take and pass a medical? I expect it will be similar to immigrating to NZ and they have a medical for everyone regardless of where you come from. A reciprocal agreement usually only works when you're on holiday somewhere not moving there for good.

    Imodium experience

Imodium gives me cramps. It does slow things down for a few hours, but I don't like the way it does it. Codeine does the same but more pleasantly but you obviously don't want to take that all the time so I do end up taking imodium to alternate with the codeine but as little as possible. I've...

    How did you GI respond

:stinks: I'm always amazed how people can be so ignorant and disinterested! I don't blame him for not wanting to prescribe it until all the evidence is in but to be so dismissive when it's obviously helping you is ridiculous!

    Glasses

More or less the same happened to me, minus the double vision. I was thinking it may have something to do with being malnourished but I really must remember to ask my GI about this.

    Glasses

Just try some frames on in a shop to figure out what style suits and write down the measurements that are on the inside of one of the legs. Use those measurements on the website so it only shows you frames that would fit. I haven't really gone terribly wrong yet but then I do have an easy face...

Working Holiday in New Zealand whilst on Infliximab (Remicade)

Hi Dom, I believe the health system here is similar to the UK but I think you need to be a permanent resident here to use the system. Private insurance here won't pay for Remicade so your only option would be the public system. Check the immigration NZ website for more details on health care...

    Growling belly

I'm exactly the same, I have strictures in the TI and lots of rumbling, sometimes very loud. I have partial blockages quite regularly the last few months and the noise when one resolves! I had a scope last week and the Dr couldn't get the scope through the last one which was holding up a lot of...

    Glasses

Have you tried Zenni optical? Or Clearly contacts? Or even Firmoo? I get most of my glasses online, most recently at Zenni, my last pair of bifocals was around $58 US I think but you can get them cheaper. And that was with all the coatings and postage to NZ. I've tried progressive lenses...
