Does Anyone Else Get This Pain Too?

Yes, I agree with Maya that it sounds like fissures. That shard of glass thing is very telling. I don't seem to be able to get rid of them, once the D, and especially windyness, subsides they improve but they always come back. The best cream I've found is with lidocaine, it dulls the pain...

    Concentration and memory issues

How did I miss this thread!? It all sounds so familiar and I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one. My brainfog started when I was on 60mg of Pred and I was assuming it was due to that and that is would go away once tapered off the pred. But no:voodoo: It's slightly less bad than is was...

Intestinal Blockage / Obstruction Support Group

Protein shakes and baby food sound like a good start. For a quick solution I would add powerade or similar as they also contain electrolytes on top of all the sugar and they certainly help me. I find them generally disgusting so it's a last resort for me, which is probably what they should be...

    Infliximab and Blood

Hi Luciana, Sorry you had to join us! I'm also no doctor but bright red blood sounds like the fissure is bleeding to me. I have those and they occasionally bleed. When they do I, and my Gastro, don't worry about it at all. But please do have it checked so you know for sure what the cause is...

    Prednisone Treatment Course

I've been on pred for around a year once and several stints of 3-6 months. No it's not what you want but if nothing else works.......

    Fingernail Changes

Could be, I never thought about it until the rheumatologist pointed it out and said it was clubbing. But then she knew about the Crohn's so maybe she just assumed that would be the cause? I'm not worried about it because I don't see a change but if I remember I'll ask my gastro.

    Peanut butter and Crohns

Smooth peanut butter is one of my safe foods, crunchy no way but smooth is good! I make it myself so there's no added sugar or anything else in there.

    Fingernail Changes

I've made a picture of one of my nails, sorry it's very vague but the curve is plain to see. I can make window panes with all my fingers, yay me:p According to may rheumatologist it's definitely clubbing. I can't remember them not looking like that however so would that mean I've always had...

    Low b12+ Folate

I currently have inflammation that is causing malabsorption and my CRP continues to be under 3, so yes that scenario is entirely possible. My CRP is almost never higher than the minimum yet the inflammation has caused scar tissue to the point of needing a resection. I also get b12 shots 3...

    Crohn's and CBD

Thanks for that Crampygut. I have no idea if I could order there with a NZ script but I can certainly try! And it gives me something to google with, one step at a time :)

Repeated mild food poisoning may trigger some cases of IBD.

That sounds like me. I've always had a "senstitive stomach" but living in South East Asia and travelling a lot to countries like Mexico, Thailand and India I had many, many cases of food poisoning in various degrees of severity and the last two trips definately set me off on the path to UC to...

Is anyone helped by large amounts of water?

I also need a lot of water, otherwise I get headaches and feel faint, ie typical dehydration symptoms. I drink at least 3 litres a day not counting other liquids. It doesn't really do much to my gut, only if I drink very little I get cramps. I also have low albumin, can't seem to get it to go...

    Crohn's and CBD

Hi Crampygut, I'm having the same issue here in NZ, it's just recently been approved but now need to find someone to prescribe it. Hopefully (medical) cannabis will be legal too at some point but in the meantime I'd be very interested in the name of the oil you're looking at, could you post it...

Oral iron supplementation - any that worked for you?

I wrote a reply a while ago but it seems to have gone missing. The gist of it was that I haven't found oral supplementation to work in any worthwhile way but I do get iron infusions when I'm still somewhere in the 10's for HB. However my GI lets it depend more on my iron panel, if that's also...

    Confusion / Potential Misdiagnosis

As someone who started with an UC diagnosis (Pan colitis) which turned out to be CD around 20 years later I concur with the others. I also declined to have my colon removed all those years ago and and very happy I did as the disease has moved to the TI and further up causing strictures ec. My...

    Low Cholesterol

Thanks both, that was interesting reading. I guess I'll have to eat more eggs and butter although too much of either makes me nauseous and:poo:. Sun is out of the question as I'm allergic:mad2: I do take extra vit D to make up for that. Anyhow it's worth a try to get it up and hopefully it...

    Low Cholesterol

Have any of you experience with low cholesterol? I tried searching the forum but it ignored the word low so a bit pointless... My values are: HDL-C 0.87 (ref range 0.96-2.38 mmol/L) Triglicerides 1.39 (ref range 0.56-2.96 mmol/L) Cholesterol 3.07 (ref range 4.42-7.53 mmol/L)...

Small intestine resection - glad you did it?

Seems you're already doing all the right things! The only other thing I remember doing was preparing soups and other easy to digest things in advance and freezing them, to use for after the op in case I couldn't be bothered to cook. That was very helpful, it made life much easier just defrosting...

Small intestine resection - glad you did it?

I was off work for about 2-3 weeks and then did some work from home. I was pretty weak the first week but after that I started improving rapidly. I can really recommend to get as fit as possible before the op, it makes a big difference in recovery time!

Small intestine resection - glad you did it?

Yes it was, that's why I preferred a planned surgery, rather than as an emergency which would have been open surgery most likely. No I didn't need to do anything diet wise, before or after. I didn't even need to clean out my bowels before surgery! Good luck with it all.
