    Low White Blood Count

Sounds like its working a bit too well hence reducing the dose.

    Ileitis but normal biopsies?

The ileum is the last part of the small bowel and whilst a colonoscopy can peek into the end they can't look too far. You have about 7 metres of small bowel so plenty for Crohn's to hide in.

    Azathioprine and constant colds

That's something at least. I'm down to only two tablets of Budesonide, so I suspect my symptoms will be getting worse next week. Do you take Vitamin C? Maybe that would help assuming it doesn't cause you digestive problems.

    Azathioprine and constant colds

This was my big worry on starting Aza as I seemed to often get colds in the past. But I've been fine (2 1/2 months now). Then again it doesn't seem to be doing anything either.

    Do you get depressed?

I think the reason I suffered from depression was because of the undiagnosed B12 deficiency that resulted from Crohns. But I think lots of other deficiencies are connected with depression; perhaps it doesn't take much to upset the chemistry of the brain. I never saw a doctor about it. I'm...

    Update!

I've found not eating is the worst bit.:frown: The prep is not exactly pleasant, but not so bad really. You take the stuff and then a bit later you have lots of diarrhoea, followed by more diarrhoea and then finally some diarrhoea. And then you take the second dose and repeat. So don't stray...

Advice needed from those living in Germany

I haven't really done anything, just looked. I don't think it's very likely to be honest, just feeling like now is the time to get out of the country. Hopefully someone living in Germany can still reply. There's at least one regular German poster on here.

Advice needed from those living in Germany

After recent events I've been looking at jobs in Germany, so this is a timely post. As I understand it some kind of healthcare insurance is mandatory, but most people are part of the government run scheme that's paid for by your employer. If you earn beyond a certain amount you're required to...

    Stomach gurgling?

Mine would sound like a Victorian drainage system. Pretty embarrassing in a quiet office. And my lower right abdomen would visibly swell up for a few seconds before going down with a big gurgle. Surgery fixed it. I hope that's not the case for you.

    Feel better after eating?

When I was quite ill even though I could barely face eating anything I'd always find that forcing myself to eat would make me feel much better. Last time was in hospital after surgery. Having not eaten anything for days I forced down a tuna sandwich; took about an hour to eat but felt much...

    Good ol' BM's

It doesn't seem like Aza would work that fast. I've been on it for 6 weeks, and on Budesonide/Entocort for about 10 weeks; 9mg, then 6mg, now 3mg. After 3 weeks of the Budesonide my BMs did get a lot better and I was almost normal. But with reducing the dose it has got a little worse again, and...

    Entocort EC and alcohol

Never seemed to be any problem for me.

    Joint pain

I tried some wrist braces with limited success; stretching was much more effective. I also had a shoulder brace but that proved too uncomfortable to wear.

When do you think there will be a cure?

In the news here today has been talk of chemotherapy and stem cell treatment "rebooting" the immune system of MS sufferers halting the disease. Maybe that's a "cure" for us too but the treatment sounds worse than the disease. Is "cure" the right word for a chronic disease? If cancer could be...

    More Atypical Symptoms?

Yes, simple tiredness too can cause a lot of the issues you describe as well, possibly linked to anxiety. I've had the first two you describe quite often when I haven't been sleeping well.

    Imuran/Azathioprine/6-MP Support Group

I went out for a bike ride in the sun on Sunday for about 2 hours, and again for about an hour yesterday. Today I'm feeling quite sunburned, as well as having that unpleasant feeling that comes from spending too much time in the sun. I did put on a bit of lotion, even though I've never really...

    B12 can you overdose?

Everything I've read says you can't overdose as long as your kidneys are healthy. I use the patches when I'm getting close to the 3 months. Seems to have an effect, more so than any of the oral products.

Outlook/Need for Drugs when few symptoms?

Middle age comes to us all.:D My hair got quite thin when I was ill, which I thought maybe was just nature, but came back a lot thicker post surgery which was a relief. Anaemia does that. Nature is slowly taking it away though. I had 18 years of no treatment and regular but not too terrible...

When it comes to drinking.... Advice please?

I mostly drink Guinness. Red wine sometimes, and occasionally whisky (or sometimes whiskey). Never have any problems as a result, though I also make sure I drink plenty of water before going to bed as dehydration is not good for your bowels and alcohol can obviously cause that. I've found when...
