2nd time on Remicade

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

This was the info I was talking about:

The author states that it is important to understand antibody/antigen excess when determining the timing of tests. After a biologic is given, there will be an excess of antigen and there shouldn't be any antibodies so wait 4 weeks before testing for antibodies. They feel if, four weeks after an infusion a patient is flaring and has antibodies to the biologic present, then they should be switched to a new biologic. If someone is flaring but doesn't have antibodies then the dose can be increased or the duration time shortened.

This came from the book David was reviewing:
http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=36155

So, an antibodies test during infusion is ok when there is a reaction because if antibodies are high it would show? But if you are testing due to flare then wait 4 weeks?

The timing is based on trough levels not antibody levels
The only timing on antibody testing is at least after the third loading dose .

Can someone point to the thread where MLP discussed the my humira card and how it worked? I thought it was in my thread here but I can find it.

My Humira card works as a secondary insurance
They cover up to $2500 of your copay for the first shipment of the year ( to cover the loading dose) this repeats every year
Your copay then becomes insurance copay minus $2500 . The minimum copay with the card is $5
After the first shipment the copay amount that myhumira card will cover is $500 so if your insurance copay is higher than $500 then you will have to pay more than $5 per shipment .
It is not based on a month but a shipment
Ds gets his shipped every 20 days .
You get on my Humira . Com and there is a number to call
They will issue you a card with a number
This is the secondary insurance number you give to the speciality pharmacy .
The card is good as long as he is on humira.
Or they stop the program
No mention of that but it has happened to other drug card programs
If any of his insurance coverage is govt based ( medical assistance Medicaid etc)
Then the my Humira card is not permitted to be used .

Once you give the speciality pharmacy the number that's its
No more issues

My Humira provides sharps boxes that they will ship to you for free and return filled for free
They also will give you a travel cooler with gel packs that fits the Humira box for traveling if you ask

Thank you so much MLP, I had read the link earlier but couldn't find how it worked. I so appreciate you providing that info. The nurse said out ambassador would be calling soon to set up a training date and all but the nurse didn't know the intricacies of the card!

Clash,
Hope the humira works really well for him! Sorry about the remicade. But hopefully this will be his magic!
