Hi everyone ! So on Tuesday I'll be 4 weeks post op. My open wound from the I&D is almost closed up. Went from half dollar size to now very small. I had my follow up last Tuesday and I'm healing well. I'll go back on March 15th and schedule my fistulotomy with LIfT procedure. He thinks it will work in my case because I have a trans something or other type of fistula. It didn't have any muscle involvement

I go back to work Wednesday and I'm out of pto and by the time my next surgery rolls around I'll be up to about a week in pto time. I do wonder though , I'm scared of the LiFT surgery. I did ok with pain during the partial fistulotomy and seton placement. Just discomfort more from the open wound. I'm scared with the lift since it's more invasive and more cutting I'll be in a lot more pain and bleeding a lot. What exactly is the lift procedure in layman terms ? I'm confused and scared. I keep telling myself let tomorrow worry about itself but any insight from my friends here at the forum would be of benefit

Thanks !
Samantha

I never have had it. The web says essential steps include incision at the inter sphincteric groove, litigation of intersphincteric tract, ligation of inter sphincteric tract close to the internal opening and removal of inter sphincteric tract scraping out all granulation tissue in the rest of the fistulous tract and suturing of the defect at the external sphincter muscle.
