6mp side effects

Hi guys,

I recently stopped imuran as it gave me an inflammed liver and am trying 6mp. I have noticed that the 6mp has been giving me
Headaches and has produced a large lump and swelling in the roof of my mouth. And im also having alot of hot sweats. I am
Only on 25mg at the moment and was wondering
If anyone else experienced these side effects? I am
Also on 15mg of predisone and cant stop eating. I hate the fact that i am
Putting on weight. I just want to feel normal again. I am so tired at the moment. I just want my life back.

Sorry Chloe, I just found 6mp made me nauseous from elevated liver enzymes and immuran gave me pancreatitis. Pred definitely makes me put on weight - not sure if the eating is the pred or my lack of self control at the moment haha. Also I do get hot sweats so maybe thats the pred too. As to wanting your life back, ME TOO. Or any life for that matter. i hope the meds get sorted for you soon,

Sorry your having trouble with, the 6mp, I was on Immuran and was also taken off it because it inflammed my liver.. whilst taking Immuran I had terrible headaches and nausea, hot sweats it was horrible. I just used to take panadol and hope that things would settle soon. Are you having regular bloods done still? I was put onto Methotrexate after that..
I know the frustration and weight gain from Prednisolone, I too have put on weight from the cravings,:voodoo: I just wanted to eat all the time... Try not to worry and let the 6mp & pred do it's work and when you are of the pred you can concentrate on your eating and diet. Once your drop to 10mg of pred the cravings should subside a fair bit...
Easy for me to say but I have had days where I feel just like you do right now..(Draging myself around from day to day because of fatigue) Hope your days get brighter chickey.. Hang in there..

Its good to know other people feel the same but also wish other people didnt have to go through it. Yea still having regular blood tests. The 6mp is just a trial at the moment. They think i will have to go on something else but they just want to rule this out first. I hate the headaches. Panadol doesnt work for me. Im not in too much pain just every now and then. My enzymes are also playing up. They said though that they are low.

My headaches were so bad from 6MP, I took myself off of it before telling the docs. The headaches went away the day after I stopped the 6MP. Felt like someone was hitting me in the back of the head with a hammer every 5 mins.

My son is 7 and is taking 25mg every other day of the 6MP. The days that he takes it he is in so much pain we can't leave home. He sits on toilet and just screams and moans. I want him to stop taking it but I ca.'t get a return phone call from the damn Doctor! Has 6MP given side effects simlar to anyone?

Hi Rita,
Sorry your little man is having a terrible time.. It's difficult when things are out of our hands and we can't fix them problem.. The only side effects your son would have from stopping the 6mp would be from his crohns.. you don't need to taper off 6mp.
It is your decision if you think his quality of life is at risk.. You should talk to his Doc about changing his meds maybe.. (when you can get hold of them). Sorry I'm not much help.. Hang in there.
