Well, I was first diagnosed about 5 years ago (mid thirties). It was thought to be was UC until the scar tissue buildup started causing problems with blockage. This warranted surgery, they removed the right half of my colon on 8.27.2014 and attached the two loose ends. The biopsy revealed that it was Crohn's instead of UC.
After surgery, things have been easier although there are still problems. The stricture is gone, at least things are flowing now. I'm currently starting Cimzia, have taken 2 of 3 of the starter doses. Having abdominal pain on left side below ribcage and ache like I may be getting sick. I hope these side effects don't last too long, I would like to be pain-free for a little while.

Looking through this site has already helped me, I thought I should join in.

Hello and welcome to the forum
I'm sorry to hear of the problems you've been having and I hope things are on the up for you.

Personally I don't have experience with biologics but we have a good number of members who do. Feel free to have a look at the treatment section at the threads already there and you are more than welcome to start your own if you have any specific questions.

Im glad you have already found the forum useful, we aim to support people as much as possible and although we might not know all the answers we will at least try to point you in the right direction or offer understanding of what you are dealing with

Welcome Beavh

I'm happy you have been helped by the forum before you decided to join.I think a lot of us share that experience.I also was introduced to Crohn's Disease by a blockage,my resection was in my jejunum.

Have you checked out the support groups? I'm on Remicade,I don't have personal experience with Cimzia.

Glad you joined!
