A diagnosis....

Hi All,

My husband Greg has just recieved a formal diagnosis via a letter saying that he has Crohn's. He has scarring throughout the large bowel from his pancolitis last year. He is going to start taking Azathioprine but the Dr says he will need a little education beforehand. Anyway, they are going to regular blood tests to monitor his heamaglobin etc.

Any way I was just writing to say thanks to those people who have replied to my questions over the last few months, your concern and advice has been an incredible help. I am amazed at the long journey that most of you are travelling on and I am so thankful that you have taken the time to consider the questions of the wife of a newbie to Crohn's.

Diagnosis Stuff:

PANCOLITIS with C-Diff treated with 100mg IV prednisone Vancomyacin Flagyl

Currently taking
3.5grams Sulfasalazine
12.5mg Prednisone (tapering)
Probiotics
Vitamin D
Iron
Blood Transfusion (2 bags packed cells) 04/01/13

Complications:

Persistent Pneumonia for some reason or another....

Hi Sarah, sorry I have taken so long to reply, things have been quite poorly in our house recently. Greg has to have major surgery to remove a skull base tumor next month... unrelated to Crohn's but his Crohn's is acting up and he won't do his blood tests. I think he is doing a wait and see if it goes away trick as he can't really comprehend it all. I'm a bit sad today as our son Elliot (it's his 12th bithday next week) needs to have a colonoscopy, the GP suspects Crohn's. Elliot hasn't eaten proplerly for over a month and is sick everyday etc. .

Thanks Sarah, your name is cute! when I was 4 my BFF in Sydney nick named me Sare Bear! I'm 36 now ! I am up and down like the roller coaster atm. I can't wait until Christmas and hopefully all will better then, in the meanwhile, it will be lots of hard work. Elliot went to Saturday school today without eating again, I don't know how he can concentrate.!
