Hi Folks,

Wow, I am completely stifled by the intensity, depth and proliferation of stories around Crohn's and IBS on this forum. I'm not one to drop religious references on a forum such as this, but I can't help but see the Goodness in the use of technology for purposes of improving people's ability to cope with life, such as that which is clearly evident from this forum.

Anyway, I'm here making an initial "post" as the husband of my precious wife, who was diagnosed with Crohn's about a month ago. We're both new to this, as one might expect. I consider us REALLY blessed to have been able to make a diagnosis in under 3 months, after 3 trips to the ER. Thank you, God.

There are lots of spouses on here supporting their loved one; you are in good company!

It is indeed great that you got a quick diagnosis - you will find lots of helpful information on this forum, support, laughs, etc.

Hope your wife is feeling better now. Just having a supportive husband can go a long way toward healing!

:welcome: Clamjuice... you are indeed an Angel, it is not easy to have this disease or the loved one watching you suffer. I have to say support goes a very long way in keeping the disease to a minimum. Stress is a trigger and difficult to control. I have an amazing husband who would walk on water for me if he thought it would cure me. Thank you for being a great human being. You are both lucky, even if you have Crohns. Glad you both found your way here. Hope here hear more from you!

I feel sometimes that our loved ones.have it as bad as we do if not worse. I have to deal with the symptoms but my lovedones have to deal with me and they also have to worry about what is going on. Your wife is lucky to have someone like you that is so involved.

Hey Folks,

Just getting back to posting here after some time "adjusting" at home. Question for some of you pre-meno ladies on the list with Crohn's. My wife is experiencing significant episodes of tension in her upper and lower back, accompanied by anxiety and that overwhelming feeling of "blahh" (as she affectionately calls it) in and around her period. Have any of you experienced this similar phenom around the time of menses and/or during menstruation? Does nayone have any insight into where this may be coming from?

hi Clamjuice - welcome to the forum. i love your thoughts on how technology has given us all this wonderful gift of being able to reach others suffering as we are - to learn and help each other.

we have quite a few discussions on the effects of hormones on Crohn's, i know i'm not the only one here who noticed Crohn's symptoms always seemed to get worse in the run up to a period - particularly in the last couple of years where i've been pre-menopausal.

if your wife has had the hormone levels checked, and the results were that her hormone levels are unbalanced, it might be worth seeking out some info regarding either HRT or natural aids, like replacing dairy with soya.. there's also things like black cohosh and starflower oil which are said to help at these times.

really glad you found us - maybe your wife would like to join up too?

Oh yes and I am counting the months for mine to STOP. It is a very painful time for me and makes your whole body go out of whack. Don't know how my hubby puts up with me at times. It is grueling and since I have had those pains since I was 14 or 15 it all ties in and it wears you out. Makes you tired, irritable, pain, and feeling worn out. You are a good hubby to help her out. Support means alot to us! Yeah, like Dingbat says she could join us too!

Up there ^ is my link on Endometriosis, which I suffered from for donkey's years!
It defo exacerbated my Crohns every month, so I had a hysterectomy!
If your wife hasn't already seen a gynae, then get a referral to one, and also tell gynae about the Crohns, there is a corellation.
Glad you found us, you're doing a smashing job supporting your wife, hope she pops on to say hi too!
