I thought I'd be organized and decide what to wear for going out tomorrow night. My slacks, which were loose the last time I put them on, do not fit in the waist. Not A Single Pair. I don't have a dress that fits today, either.
I'm bloated to high heaven, the scale says I'm carrying 5 additional pounds of (water?) since yesterday, I can't "make do" and wear the too-tight slacks because the pressure on my stomach increases the pain tenfold, and I feel gross.

Looks like Kelly's going to the symphony in elastic waist jeans.

Or shopping at a maternity store.:shifty-t:

Hey Kelly, I fully understand, I still have jeans with the price tag on them. But, my elastic waisted band jeans are so worn out lol. I dont wear dresses, because that can mean panyhose and or high heels... worse senario for me. You can get dress pants and jeans to help for those bloated days. Sears has them in the tradition section, and petite sections. Why be uncomfortable, no one knows unless you show them your jeans waist lol. Hope you get that unwanted bloat to go away.

Kelly - I feel your pain, when I was diagnosed I had dropped almost 120 lbs and was down to a size 14!! From a 26!!! Then, after taking steroids, I got back up to an 18. None of my cute size 14 clothes fit anymore. So, my closet always has a 'range' of sizes, anywhere from 14 to 20, for all the fluctuations in my weight from steroid treatments to remission to flare up periods... It is such a bummer dealing with all this stuff! At least you had the forethought to try on clohes the day before, and you weren't picking out an outfit mere hours before the event... gives you some time to come up with a plan B. Don't worry too much, things should even out soon.

haha...I actually have a pair of cropped maternity summer pants that I wear when I feel that way. I dont think anyone notices as there is no elastic waste but it is definitely bigger on the top. Works great!
Hope you found something to wear and that you enjoyed the symphony.

I had a moment like this last fall before I got hospitalized (and later diagnosed). I didn't have the losing weight problem, but boy was my belly getting distended. I thought I was just getting fat! I literally had one pair of jeans I could wear that wouldn't give me a tummy ache from the pressure (well not to mention I had an abscess floating around in my abdomen I didn't know about!).

It's a frustrating feeling! Hopefully you found something to wear :) And you know...I've seen people wear jeans to the symphony before! I went to the opening night gala of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra last fall with my husband for our anniversary and I wore a gown and he rented a tux. I was amazed that there were people arriving with jeans, sandals, and backpacks! I kinda felt like the oddball wearing a gown! Haha.

So, if you do end up in jeans you might not stick out as much as you think :)

Don't knock the maternity pants idea-one day I was having similar issues when my neighbor came over and brought me a pair of her maternity pants. Now I keep several pairs (jeans and dressier pants) just in case my gut decides to swell and I can't shoe-horn myself into my regular clothes lol.

Ooooh, I love nights out with gowns and tuxes! You two must have had a blast.
Where I live, the Jubilee, which is home to the ballet and opera, is the place where ballgowns are de rigeur, and the Winspear, home to the symphony orchestra, is more casual. So, you're right - the occasional person wears jeans. I love dressing up, though! Some of the water weight from yesterday has gone down, so I'm going to try to fit into my favourite suit -- it's hardly a gown, but better than jeans! Barring that, will opt for comfort in jeans and a nice jacket + shoes... and I'll cope. ;)

Don't knock the maternity pants idea.

Not to worry, it was more laughing at my situation than laughing at what could be an excellent solution!

And, a last minute save -- the suit pants fit today (I'm thanking a day on Ensure for this), and I'm pairing them with a black top and black beaded scarf that I completely forgot I had. Phew!

Thanks for the support. :)

Disaster averted! Glad some of the bloat is gone and I hope you enjoy your night out!

Sounds like we've all been there. Sometimes my weight fluctuates 5+ pounds in a day too! Ugh. I opt for dresses and leggings. The leggings are more comfortable than hose or tights and the dresses work whether I am 118 pounds or 135 pounds. In summer it's cropped leggings and sandals, in winter it's boots, long legging and turtlenecks. It's pretty much my new uniform!

Confession time... I cried yesterday because I was going to a friend's and couldn't find a clean T-shirt that would go over my belly. All I had in the cupboard were lycra tops that made me look 8 months pregnant :(

Glad your wardrobe was a success Kelly! I hate trying on a million clothes... comfy but niice is hard to find LOL.

Glad it worked out for you Kelly...
I have exactly the same problem...
AND I'm so tired of wearing long tops to try and hide my belly!! :depressed:
