Hello everyone, I haven't been around alot lately, not feeling too good. Has anyone ever had problems with adhesions? I don't know if this is what's going on but after 3 major abdominal surgeries I'm curious to talk with someone who has had problems with them. I had my last surgery in April, simple kink in the small intestines, but now about every 15-20 minutes I feel like something is twisting but then it lets go. It's a scary feeling. Every once in a while when it happens it shoots this pain directly to my left shoulder and it feels like someone is trying to rip it off, and then as quickly as it came it goes..:confused2:

yes i've had a lot of post surgery pain with adhesions, and one or two of the problem areas lasted for years. i dont know that there's much you can do, hopefully they will become less sticky in time, and therefore settle & cause you less pain. i think the one thing you can do is to let your consultant know the extent of the pain and how often its hurting you, just so he can keep an eye on things.

i think (may be wrong here) but if the referred pain is felt in the shoulder tip, then its coming from the diaphragm. i know that when i've had trapped wind under my diaphragm, i feel it there, and its a common occurance after laparotomy surgery.

i hope it settles down soon for you.

I suffer from adhesions despite never having had surgery.

My consultant said that the various parts that are sticking together eventually fuse permanently, and the pain stops. It could be weeks to years though.
