Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here but I'm looking to see if anyone can help a little bit with some of the things I've been experiencing over the last couple of weeks.
I'll give a little bit of background info first. Since I was a child (I'm now 25)I've suffered from constipation sometimes only having bm's 1-2 times a week. Sometimes the stools could be quite large and sore to pass and often after wiping there would be a little bit of bright red blood on the toilet paper but the stools looked normal. I went to the Dr in December and he reassured me it was something like a fissure and gave me lactulose which I have been using since then and has made such a difference, my stools have been softer there is very little to no blood (the only time when there is a little bit blood is when I've maybe forgotten to take lactulose for a week or so.) However this has caused me to always check my stools everytime I have a bm.
Last night I had a bm and when I checked to see how it was I noticed a tiny little red bit in stool. On closer inspection it turned out to be - the best way to describe it - little red flakey bits in my stool, I found another couple of similar pieces as well. Tonight I had another bm and once again found more of these little things, only this time they seemed to be slightly bigger and chunkier. I am completely perplexed as to what these things are. Last night was the first time I noticed them but I don't know how long - if ever- I've had them but they're really starting to scare me. As well as that over the last 3 weeks I've had what I can only describe as constant gnawing, hunger, hollow aches in my upper middle abdomen which I sometimes feel in my top left and top right rib on and off and on occasion I get the odd rumble/ pop sound feeling which mostly seems to come from the upper mid-left part of abdomen (where I think the stomach is) I don't call it pain as such as it doesn't feel painful ( 2-3 out of 10) I mentioned it to the Dr a couple of weeks back and they seemed to think it was excess stomach acid (the month before that I had a constant burning/stinging sensation in my throat which could be contributed to that) so I've been given 2 months worth of omeprazole however I'm not too sure if it is that as I've never had any stomach problems before. However I am wondering if these aches are related to the strange things in my stools.
I've been dealing with a bit of health anxiety over the last 6 months and I feel these strange bm's are just yet another thing to worry about. I'm due to start a new job this week with a 6 month probationary period and it's Monday - Friday 9-5 which will make it harder to get a Dr appt. I don't want to be asking for time off for appts as I don't want to look unreliable in this new job.
I'm so worried about everything just now. I know this post has gone on a long time and I appreciate in advance people taking the time to read and offer any advice to me. I know it may seem strange as well but I've attached some pics of the pieces I found in the stools so people get a better idea of what I'm talking about. The first photo is of what I found yesterday and the second is what I found in tonights.
Many thanks once again!
Kind regards.

Welcomes. I would be concerned about the little flakes of blood and would consult a doctor. Let us know how you are. Maybe if you take the time now you won't have to take as much time from work later

Hi there,
Many thanks for your reply.
I'm not entirely sure if those things are blood or not. When I've had blood in stools before it's been more a light coating on the outside of the stool which seems to dissappear when coming into contact with water, which these things don't seem to do. Would blood in stools be solids like these are?

It looks like food bits to me but it might be blood that is stuck to something else. I would show those pictures to your doctor. The sooner the better that way you can get on with your new employment opportunity.
