Really could do with some advice right now from anyone who has or knows about stomas. I had a large lunch today and since 4.30pm UK time I have had chronic griping pain which is coming and going in waves. The last time I had this was 2 months ago and it went away by itself but my surgeon reckoned I had had a blockage or I'd had a lesion?. Whats also worrying me is I have really little output, and the little I have is extremely watery, please someone I have taken a dehydrocodeine tablet and my crohns meds and the pain is still there can anyone help?

Can't help, but here's a {{{{{ruthymg}}}}} and I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Hope it passes by itself soon!

Ruth,

I do not have personal experience with stomas, but have felt simular feelings to what you had with no output (or gas). It was usually a partial blockage (I think) and required me to not eat or drink for a good portion of the day. I just would lay in bed.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you feel you need to go to the doctor or emergency room, then do so. Only you know what is "normal", so do what you feel is best. I know that if you are not throwing up and you have some limited output it is not a full blockage. You may want to give it time and see what happens.

BUT ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!

Good luck and keep us posted on how things turn out.

May be a blockage but thats only an option, if it was a real urgency to find out your surgeon wwould have sent you for a CT immediatly, because of possiblity of porforation not a lesion.

Ok, I'm back, had a partial blockage. Went to emergency room sat pm and was seen virtually straight away by a doctor then the surgeon. Was given an Iv and painkillers and admitted. Spent last 2 nights in hospital, being fed with strong antibiotics (metronidozole and another I can't remember) which just made me vomit constantly as I was also being starved. Luckily my stoma started to work by itself so I didn't need surgery or anything that drastic. Was really worried though, was in terrible pain sat pm. Thanks for the messages of support, feel much better now. Just gonna get my head down and rest now, haven't had much sleep, you know what hospitals are like. Thanks again everyone.
