Hey Guys needing some advice, i was diognosed with crohns in march this year, had an op to remove part of my ileum in may, contracted cdfif in june and started my modulen ibd liquid diet 3 weeks ago, all seemed to be going well but I have been feeling really off since saturday i've had really bad pains in my lower groin the only way i can describe it is when you have trapped wind. I'm in such agony i cant bend down or move without being in pain now, i'm finding it really hard when i go to the toilet as its really sore and i'm not being able to empty my bowel proeprly(i am able to pass a stool but i feel like its still quite full)even find it hard when i go to pee. I am feeling so sick with this and my stomach is like a ballooooon! Went up to A & E this afternoon as my doctors surgery was closed and i saw a gp who said i was having 'a flare up' i was fuming this is not the kind of pain when my crohns is active and i was quite concerned that i had a partial blockage in my bowel and just had visions of it being something worse than it is as everytime i go to the doctors they never get it right. She gave my what she classed as a short quick blast of steriods (a months worth) to reduce the inflammation. When i had my bloods done on friday my inflammation levels were only at 14 which is really good (12 the previous week but nothing to be concerned about) I just feel that sometimes when you say that you have crohns then its easy to blame it on that than investigating further. I'm now left feeling down again me thinking that i was going into remission and she is telling me im having a flare up!! Going to see mr dr tomorrow to get a second opinion as my GI specialist is on holiday just now:( i'm really upset as we go away in two weeks to spain for a weeks rest and i thought i was getting somewhere, i dont want to ruin it for the family.

I am sorry that you may be flaring so quickly after your surgery. However, if you are concerned something else is going on, you certainly should seek another opinion. I agree with you that not enough investigation is done for those with IBD, and we can be easily dismissed.

I hope you start to feel better soon and you enjoy your vacation!

Hi Guys I went and saw the GP yesterday morning and he too thinks that it has spread to the large bowel. He contacted my specialist (is on leave from today for two weeks) and he wanted me to go to A & E immediately and get checked out there. So after many examinations, IV put in:( I had an ultra sound done but my bowel was empty although i felt i was about to explode as it feels like theres alot of pressure pushing down on it but nothing abnormal is showing so thats a good sign. My GI came along after he had finished his surgery, he doesnt think i have a blockage but will keep an eye out incase there is a narrowing forming. He has taken me off the modulen to see if its maybe bunging me up as it can or give me an upset stomach (bit of a contradiction) he says its possible that it has spread to my large bowel and if i am still in pain next week the other GI Doctor will go in and have a look. I have been given steriods to take for 3 weeks to try and reduce inflammation if there is any. I was told i was being kept in for observations but i heard my GI speaking to the nurse as there was no beds and i stay accross the road literally from the hospital so i was relieved i didn't need to be kept in.

I really do hope that the steriods work as i've not even gone into remission i cant bear to start all this again i have been ill for a year now :(

Awe I am so sorry you didnt even have any relief. I can sort of emphasize with you because on my second surgery I never got any relief either, the more surgeries you have the fast it can come back.. My theory, they just plain didnt get it all and they operated this time whilst I was infected, that was a mistake right there. It has been since 2003 and supposed to have another but at least I am about 85% at best able to control it.

I hope you find someone who can help you get this pain undercontrol, it is very frustrating and your life is put on hold. Keep us posted ok. Hugs!
