I have been in and out of ER finally had colonoscopy today. The doctor says I have scar tissue pulling at my colon causing all the pain and trouble. He is sending me to a surgeon. He says he is not sure if surgery is the right way to go. He is afraid it may create more scar tissue. Any opinions or has anyone else experienced this?:(

Pulling at the colon? You mean an adhesion? I don't have any experience with those myself but can try to find some older threads on it. In the meantime I'm gonna tag Afidz as I know she's dealt with lots of corrective surgery.

Write all of your questions down. Ask about recovery time and risks involved. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head so I'll try to find you some threads to take a look at. Let us know how the appointment goes. :)

Thank you so much and maybe just posting what he told me. My main concern is I just want to feel better.

Thank you. Both were very helpful and it appears there are pros and cons. I am headed to bed. Should get a call tomorrow advising when i see the surgeon.

Hello jane1321!
I have had a lot of surgeries on my abdomen but only one on my colon. If there is scar tissue that is causing problems, unfortunately the only way to correct it is surgery. I understand where the doctor is coming from but it may be worth a try. If you don't get the scar tissue removed it might cause more problems down the road. After surgery follow doctors orders to a tee so you can heal properly, I am not sure if there is a way to prevent scar tissue on the inside but I know I have had a lot of issues with scar tissue around incision sites because I did too much too soon. Take time to heal.
Have you found out when you are seeing the surgeon yet? I would definitely talk to him about your concern with more scar tissue building up and things that you can do to prevent it. Before and after surgery eat a lot of protein, it helps you heal. Basically just get your body as healthy as you possibly can before surgery.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions
