Hey all I've recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease and I have a few questions.
My flare ups only last a few hours not the whole day but I have an episode of that nearly everyday/every few days. After my flare up I am completely exhausted and usually really hungry, is that something you experience?
Also what kind of jobs do you all do? I worked at a daycare when I first got diagnosed but then things got really bad so I quit and I don't know what to do.
Thanks!

I sometimes experience it. I think because of the disease our bodies have trouble absorbing the nutrition we need . Have you had your blood checked? You could be low on iron or b12. I am retired. Six years ago, I had a resection. It put too much stress on my body, after the resection, traveling on the bus to and from work so I retired. I tried to find a part time job close to home but it didn't work out.

I think you are having daily episodes while in an active flare up. A flare up can last days, weeks, years then you hit remission. When I was in remission, I would have isolated episodes and then be fine for quite a while.

It can leave you exhausted and hungry as things are running right through you.

I work retail, I am an Asst Mgr for a women clothing store. When I am sick, as I am now, it doesn't give me the flexibility to take care of myself. Meal breaks are not consistently given, much less a regular break. Only the employees in the store at a time- not great when you HAVE to go!! I am not sure what the perfect job is for a IBD patient. right now I am on short term disability.

I hope you find something soon that works for you !
