Hi all.
My name is Donna and this is my first time posting. I've had Crohn's since 2003 and had my first (I hope only) resection in April and had 68 cm. of my small bowel removed. I've been pain free since surgery but still have fatigue, sore mouth and arthritic joints. My question is: even though the diseased portion of bowel was removed, will I still keep having the other symptoms ? Also, am I now considered to be in remission ? Thanks in advance. Hope I don't sound like an idiot.

You don't sound like an idiot at all!! :)

I was very fatigued and achy for a couple of months or so after my resection. It took a lot longer to get my strength back than i thought it would.

Typically, I think they say you are in remission if all of the active crohn's is gone. Did they take out all of the affected areas? I know that with my surgery, they took a foot and a half of my small intestine, but left the part of my colon and rectum that had disease in it. So I was not in remission afterwards.

I hope you start getting to feel better!!

Thanks for your reply. It's good to know that the fatigue and achiness are normal. As far as I know all of the diseased area was removed. The surgeon said the rest of the bowel appeared to be healthy.
Guess I just have to stop being so impatient and just let my body heal on it's own schedule. Thanks again.
Donna
