I started a new job at the end of October. I work for a very large insurance company, the benefits are great, the job is awesome.
I was trying to avoid the "I am chronically sick" topic but that didn't pan out because my need for frequent restroom breaks was noticed. I thought I was getting in trouble because lets face it, normally that is something you get in trouble for in the workplace. But as it turned out, my manager just wanted to know what was going on so that accommodations could be made for me.
So now I am in contact with the the Americans with disabilities act department, they are coming up with a solution to allow for me to use the bathroom when I need it with out it affecting my performance. They are also going to provide me with a better chair to help with my AS.
I am so impressed with this company, they are so willing to help in anyway that they can to ensure my success. I mean, they have a whole department just to help people with disabilities. In my experience, thats not a very common practice.

That is great news.

Is CD covered under that act?

I just used up all my FMLA and am pretty nervous going back to work, for me the issue is
closing at night and turning around and opening in the morning. I work retail and they have cut a lot of our stores to 2 "man" coverage at a time. Hard to run to the bathroom, unable to take breaks including lunch/dinner breaks.

Really can't lose my job!

So glad you found a job that works so well with you!

Tots, Crohn's is covered under the act. I would try to look into it a little further because its supposed to offer you protection in your job

Happy, despite what happened on Thursday, I am keeping my head up. I am very happy where my life is now and the direction that I am headed. Another bump in the road, such is life with a chronic illness

That is fantastic that your employer is willing to accommodate you :) Sounds like you found a great place to work!

I have never before worked for a corporation that values their employees in the way that this company does. As long as I can make it through this year and get FMLA protection I will be set
