Hi,
Im interested to know if anyone here has ever been diagnosed with amoebiasis, and how this affected you when having IBD in addition? How were you treated, and were you able to get rid of the amoebas entirely?
I have had Crohns or UC (diagnosis uncertain, but inflammation of the colon) since 2009, and just got to know that I have amoebas and cysts present in my stool. I've previously been treated for IBD in Europe, and recently moved to Asia where they did a routine test the first time I visited the new doctor. They are not sure when I got the amoeba infection. And this made me start thinking about whether I could have had this all along? I have read that chronic amoebiasis is similar to ulcerative colitis. It has been confirmed that I have never been checked for amoebas previously. Would appreciate anyone's experience with this, symptoms etc.
