So I've have two Remicade infusions so far, both were really easy. I felt great after my first infusion and my upset stomachs had basically gone away. However after my second infusion my stomach was a wreck again. I went to see my doctor and she said that I possibly could have developed antibodies or I just might need a stronger dose. I'm having the Prometheus test done but not for about 3 weeks. I just got used to the idea of Remicade and I don't want to switch to Humira, it freaks me out, but I guess I will have to if Remicade doesn't work for me. Does anyone have experience with this or know if this sounds like antibodies or just that I need a stronger dose?? I would really appreciate any insight as I am a Crohn's and Remicade newbie.. thanks :/

Hello Becca
Welcome to the forum.
Some doctors give cortisone infusion and maybe other medication with the Remicade to counteract some negative effects that may occur.
You may not have antibodies to the Remicade and this is why antibody tests are done.
It is possible for you to continue with Remicade if the antibody tests are negative, so don't give up hope yet.
It usually takes more doses of the Remicade at least four to start, so it may be a while before the Remicade kicks in.
There is a subforum which will give you more information and reports of other forum members experiences with it.
Feel better soon.
Hugs and best wishes

I had to switch from Remicade to Humira because I had developed antibodies. It's basically saved my life. I can answer any questions for you if you want.

I developed anti-bodies really fast. The first dose went fine, but before I could have my 2nd loading dose I was in the hospital with a bad case of serum sickness which caused every single joint in my body to seize up. I was given the option of trying it again, so I did and went into anaphylaxis.

However the first dose did kick start my remission.
