Hi! I am new and and have just recently been diagnosed with Crohn's (22 years old). I have suspected for a while now (almost 2 years) that I had some form of IBD, as I have been suffering from many symptoms for some time now. Even though I was clearly affected by certain foods, I just thought since there was no concrete diagnosis, it was fine to continue eating them (stupid, I know!). But now that there is a concrete diagnosis, I am taking it seriously and being smart with my food choices. One thing I am devastated by having to basically give up is potato chips and popcorn. Obviously popcorn is a no-go, but does anyone have any success with some type of crunchy, salty snack. I absolutely love them all, and if there is any way to eat something like a potato chip, I will be all over it. I know that everyone with this disease is different and all react to foods differently, but any tips would be wonderful. Thanks all!

Hey! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I've got crohns too and popcorn is a no go for me as it cause uncomfortable pains however I found that rice cakes tastes exactly like popcorn however they don't cause any pain, you could try those...it's hard being unable to eat foods you like but it's something you become used to. Hope you feel better soon

Hi eneg16, welcome to the forum. :) I agree with Sumayya, rice cakes are a good option. They're pretty easily digested, and they come in lots of different flavors, both savory and sweet. I like the chocolate flavor, but they also come in chip-like flavors (cheddar, ranch, etc). I also like rice crackers - I dip them in hummus for a snack sometimes. Those come in a lot of flavors too and they definitely have a nice crunch.

Have you tried making your own snack chips? Add salt and herbs to sliced sweet potato or zucchini-lots of recipes online

I use baked kale with sea salt and olive oil. I have had no issues this. I preheat the oven to 350. I take a bag of chopped kale (wash and make sure it is completely dry) then I toss with 2 tbs of olive oil and 2 tsp of sea salt and I bake for about 20 minutes. Let sit out to "dry" again on pan for about 15 minutes. These are SO good. Normally I cannot handle leaves but after being baked it seems good. No reaction and I have done it several times now. I promise this salty snack will be all that and "a bag of chips" tee hee hee
