I have unbelievable pain if I very lightly touch my rib on the side of my body where my crohns manifests. Anyone else have this? The doc has sent me for a rib X-ray n' says that it could be an infection of the cartilage between the bone and the muscle. Anyone?

Any pain I had in that area was from a flare of my GI tract. Sorry that's not much help.

Scary - It actually is a BIG help. I told my doctor that I thought the pain was connected to my crohn's and he simply did not agree. I am sure that it is, because it is just above the area where I have inflamation, and I probably am having a flare because I've been eating so badly.

Don't want the radiation from the X-rays, but have to follow docs orders I guess.

Get a ct scan if you have to get answers do it. Putting it off or ignoring it will exasperate the situation. Trust nexu learned the hard way :(

I have injured muscles from the abdominal cramping. It has made my lower ribs sore, but not the upper ones. The cramping over time can have a big strain. Not sure if this helps, but it was something that has hit me a few times.

Did the stupid x-rays this morning. Hate the radiation. I know it's nothing to do with my ribs, except the cramping and inflammation as you guys say. HAd to miss work to do it and now i have the added stress of having to catch up on my hours. These doctors!!! Wish I could find one who knew what he was talking about and who listened to the patient, i.e. me. I believe often the patient knows best.

In 2010, I was sent to the hospital twice for severe chest pain. The pain was centered between my ribs. After a couple of CT scans, nothing was discovered. It wasn't my heart, which was the first concern. To this day, they don't necessarily know what caused it. Actually, it comes and goes occasionally, but not so severe.

A specialist diagnosed it at Costochondritis and thinks it is related to my Crohn's. In fact, most inflammation you may have in one way or another is related to your crohn's.

If I experience rib pain, a couple of Advil usually takes care of it and it just goes away...

I get it when I've eaten foods that disagree with me. I'm not 100% on if it's the bloating or something else. It's a sharp pain right between my ribs, sometimes it's near the sternum, other times not. I used to think it was because I have a deformity in my rib cage but I don't think that's the case anymore since it seems tied to my diet.

My advice to you is keep a food journal and try to see if you can't link it to a trigger.
