anyone else having issues?

Seems that either the crohn's or the medication (biologics remicade and cimzia) I have taken has caused female issues. I tried ivf, the eggs are deformed or genetically mutated. I swear it is the biologicals I have taken in the past. I know the remicade cause kidney disease.. just thinking having children isn't possible.

I wanted to add my support and some ((hugs)). I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Please know I'm thinking of you.

I don't even know cause I haven't tried having kids yet but I plan on it some day. What about adoption or a surrogate mother? I know its not the same, just didn't know what else to say. I'm sorry to hear it.

Sorry to hear that. I have been unable to conceive for the past 4 years...and just started having irregular periods. I had original Crohn's sxs in 1/2008 and that was around the time the infertility started. I know for alot of women it doesn't make a difference. It has for me unfortunately. I would definatly look into alternative options. Acupuncture, Herbs, etc are good for improving egg quality. That's the step I'm headed in.

When I was diagnosed in 1987 my gastroenterologist told me that because of the crohns I would have trouble conceiving. I was 17 and stopped taking any contraception at all. I was engaged and told my fiancee that I would only get married if I could have a baby, he said he didn't care but I did. I got pregnant the 1st time when I was 19 (1989) so it took me about 2 years to conceive...I stayed off contraception after her birth and got pregnant with my son in 1992..again about 2 years to conceive.I started taking the pill after my 2nd child and I thought it was the crohns that had affected my fertility however many years later (and a new partner) I decided to have baby number 3. I went off the pill expecting that the crohns and the length of time I had been on the pill (about 9 years) would delay conception for at least a year...well surprise! I got pregnant after just 3 months! Nothing had changed in my medication and my crohns was still there since my older children were born so I came to the conclusion that crohns didnt have anything to do with the length of time it took to conceive it was my partner! So please don't give up hope just because you have crohns! I hope you get a baby one day whether it's naturally or not...my thoughts and love with you <3

I think Crohn's definitely plays a role. Before I was diagnosed or had any problems besides a general feeling of being unwell we conceived the first try. I was diagnosed with Crohn's almost a year after she was born. We started trying again 4 months ago and nothing. My body's not the same at all after Crohn's. I don't know if anyone's heard of fertile mucus (stretchy vaginal secretions around ovulation), but I hardly have any of it now. When I got pregnant I had it in spades. I'm starting to wonder if more kids aren't an option.

Before I got diagnosed with CD I was tested for all kinds of things one of them being PCOS(Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). One doctor said I did have it and started me on meds which turned out to make my Crohn's worse and it all spiraled from there. I had been mis-diagnosed.
That being said I've never tried to get pregnant but my "cycles" have never been constant for more than three or four months in a row. Maybe just a side effect of having so much inflammation in one's body? We should start a poll for women to see how many have these problems....
