anyone had a Laparotomy

I have posted on here about my LO whos 2 1/2 before...he's due to have barium swallow in week or so then Laparotomy 30th March as his biopsies were normal, I've been nosing through posts and see that some people have had a few colonoscopys that have been negative but still diagnosed with CD. He's currently on anti-spasmotics which seem to help with the pain but not the D.:(

My daughter had a laparotomy that lead to a resection and subsequent diagnosis. However she was undiagnosed at the time and had never had a colonoscopy. Matt was diagnosed with CD via colonscopy even though the biopsies weren't conclusive the pathologist stated it was most likely CD plus the GI's visual of his ileum was enough for him to diagnose it.

The only other relative to have CD (ileal) went undiagnosed for 4 years and also had normal colonoscopies. She was treated for RA for at least 2 years and when her symptoms persisted they eventually did a laparotomy. When they went in they saw straight away it was CD and that's how she received her diagnosis. That was quite a few years ago so the non invasive tests weren't as accurate as they are now.

Hopefully something less invasive, like the barium swallow, will lead to a diagnosis. Good luck and keep us posted!

Dusty. :)
