My GI has diagnosed me with Crohn's and IBS. It is so hard for me to know the difference. I'm being hospitalized again currently because of constant pain for almost two months that has gotten severe the last couple of weeks. It has hindered my job and my life. I've missed a lot of work and other things because if it. I'm having a Ct enterography tomorrow to look at my small bowel. If it comes back good I guess I'll have to believe that it is just IBS. I had no clue IBS could be this severe though. It feels just like my terrible Crohn's flare that finally got me diagnosed.

I do also have crohns and IBS, i know how you feel. To make it harder ive had both within a year of eachother so sometimes i cant tell. The only time i can tell is when its a obstruction from my stricture, theres no mistaking that pain. But i do hope you get better and your work etc can get back to normal. Wishing you luck with it all.

Yes, I have both too. And, yes IBS pain can be brutal too. I sometimes think I can tell which one is doing what, but I generally cannot differentiate. Good luck with your scan, and keep us posted.

Well I'll be having surgery in three weeks for stricture (possibly more than one) The Ct Endoscopy showed a possible stricture, and then the small bowel follow through today showed possibly another one higher up in my small bowel. I have to wait three weeks so the Remicade and steroids will be mostly out of my system so the surgery will heal correctly.

I have a physically laborious job. What's the recovery time for all of you out there that have had laparoscopic resection surgery?

Well I'm back! I had surgery a week and a half ago. There has been some confusion over how much was removed. We thought the surgeon said six inches, but the test results show over a foot and a half. I'll find out tomorrow. They thought there was no active Crohn's and it was just a stricture but it actually was active Crohn's. I could tell it was, but they just don't see how it is when their tests are telling them otherwise. Oh well. I have to see now what my GI wants to do since I'm on Remicade. My terminal ileum and part of my colon was removed. I was hoping that this would fix things for a while, but the last few days I've already been having Crohn's feelings again. It's frustrating! Hoping and praying for the best.

Oh, also I was going to ask if there's anything we Crohnies can take for gas? I've had the worst case of it the last few days. Can't hardly pass it.

Hope you feel better soon.Give yourself time to recover from the surgery. You insides will be feeling sore and not working properly yet.If the "gas" is something new,it could be a side effect of the surgery too.But tell your doctor or make a list of questions you'd like to ask before your discharge.
