Hi there, anyone have vaginal birth who had perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease at the time? Dr. Switched out a seton that should have been left alone. I was given the 'go-ahead' for vaginal birth, but after switching the seton I started having lots of draining, and now drs are concerned that the perianal disease is active right now. They are concerned about the possibility if a rectal tear that may never heal, also, about tearing into fistula that has a seton, or also into old fistula tracts that had previously closed up. Also, that if an episiotomy is needed, it will have to cut through old fistula tracts and cause problems. Now some drs are talking cesarean, and my due date is a week away..... Any input or advice would be very helpful.

I haven't dealt with either but its starting to sound like a C section might be for the best. Hope everything goes well no matter what! Sorry for the late reply.

I had RV fistulas during pregnancy, thus making a c section the choice that was best for me. I had a very positive experience, and minimal side effects. I do not regret my decision at all!

I had a c section due to me having fisutulas. At the time they were both actively draining and OBGYN wass concerned about the risk of infection. We decided the section would be best to keep the bacteria and the strain to a minimum. I developed my fistulas during pregnancy (around month 3) so I just ready to be done with it.

Good luck and take care!

I had a vaginal birth with my first daughter which caused a fistular which I still have (she is 14 now) i then had a c section with my seciond one as the doctor said it coukld cause another one, if you have the option I would def go for the c section x
