Anyone Have positive Biopsies For Crohn's With A Normal Visual Colonoscopy?

Today I had my follow up colonoscopy post GB surgery for re-confirmation of Crohn's. GI doc said everything looked great no visual inflammation. Took many biopsies. My question is has anyone had positive biopsies for colitis, ileitis, etc. with a normal visual colonoscopy?

While I haven't had this, my doctor told me it is possible. If the Crohn's is below the surface, the doctor can't see it on the colonoscopy, but it will show up in the biopsy if they biopsy diseased tissue.

I have experienced this. On one of my colonoscopies/endoscopies, the visual looked like a healthy digestive system. Yet the biopsies revealed inflammation and Crohn's all along my GI tract. Looks can be very deceiving, especially with IBD.

I wish the GI had taken biopsies in the areas that our daughter had previous inflammation. They rediagnosed her with U.c. because the previous areas "appeared" healthy. To me that would just be common sense if this is true.

Well after my scope my GI doctor tells my husband he doesn't think I have Crohns just IBS based on what he saw. He said this scope looked better than my last one ( which biopsy said I had ileitis). Well I hope he is right that I don't have Crohns. I just don't know how he can be so quick to say that without the biopsy results. He did after all totally miss my inflamed gallbladder :( How can he diagnose me with Crohns after my last scope then totally think I don't have it now after today's normal visualization during today's colonoscopy? I don't want to get all excited thinking I don't have it until these biopsies come back.

Biopsies usually take a while to come back. However, since the results are fairly important to you, calling the office every couple of days wouldn't hurt. Usually this helps you get the doc's impressions of the results much faster than if you had waited for them to call you. I hope you get the results you are hoping for.

Thank you!! I am hoping for no Crohns!! I am very happy everything LOOKS fine from my scope. I just won't totally know until I hear all biopsies are normal. I have to wait 2 weeks than call an automated system using my account number and birth date. Then the results are given by phone. Will be a long 2 weeks!
