I dread going to the bathroom because I feel so sick after. I get achy joints, feel weak, tired, and generally not well- sometimes feel feverish. I don't know what wrong with me. I've told my doctor but he can't think of why this is happening and keeps brushing it off kind of. I want to figure out whats wrong and get a proper diagnosis! Any similar stories or ideas/suggestions? I'm going to talk to him again on Tuesday and hope he tells me something new. I want to try something new med wise to see if it helps even though I haven't been diagnosed but he doesn't seem to go for it.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks.

Are you seeing a gastroenterologist? If not, that would be advised.

You are not alone (symptoms without a diagnosis). It is very common.

You can read all about IBD here: Tufts Course. Table 3 helps clarify Crohn's Disease (CD) from Ulcerative Colitis (UC).

Your GI may put you on a 5ASA medicine (Lialda, Asacol, Pentasa, etc) and a lot of times, that helps a lot.

Thanks. I did look at the chart and it was helpful. There may be some cross over but I will look over and bring up with my GI. My GI doesn't want to drugs unless he can prove I have what the drug treats.

Seems like they should be running some tests to see what may be wrong. Blood tests are a good place to start, and a GI doc might want to run a colonscopy or endoscopy. Are you having diarrhea or cramping or weight loss?

And the endo/colon results were normal? Have you tried keeping a food diary or cutting out common irritants like dairy or gluten and also food that contain chemicals and preservatives. Do you take probiotics? Probiotics seem to help a lot of us that have GI distress.

I've been on probiotics for years. I've kept food diaries before and my doctors don't care! The endoscopy showed bumps along esophagus and colonoscopy showed hemorrhoids. No signs of IBD. Puzzling with my new symptoms!

Doctors never care about food diaries but they do provide you with very important info. So many of us have certain foods that we just can't eat without feeling sick. Hang in there while you wait for a diagnosis!
