:boring: Hi All...very new to this forum but wanted to get some advice...My crohns has been so out of control for the past year, I've gained over 25 pounds and haven't even been on prednisone in a long while. I have a consult on Wednesday to see a weight clinic for Vitamin B12 injections. My friend did this and lost 60lbs in 4 months...Anybody know anything or have had this while dealing with Crohns?!

Hi, 6.7, and welcome to the forum. We're glad to have you here.

Re. your question, I haven't heard about B12 and weight loss, but if you try this...please share how it works for you!!!! I'm up 30 pounds (used to be healthy weight).

Hi and :welcome:

Good to see you here. Would you like to start a thread in the Your Story Forum that way you will be welcomed and more people are likely to see your question. There are threads on here about people having issues with their weight so you are not alone there!

Back to your question, I have never heard of B12 having the ability to do that. As there are a number of people on here that have B12 injections as a necessity it would be interesting to see how they view the concept.

Welcome aboard!

Take care, :)
Dusty

hi there, and welcome to the forum :)

i have been having B12 injections for years... but i've also never heard of it being associated with weight loss!

a lot of Crohn's sufferers do need B12 supplements in some form or other - so i think it might be a good thing for you, particularly if you have poor absorption and/or fatigue. i'd be really interested to hear the B12/weight loss theory.

Hey
Welcome to the forum.
I have B12 injections every 3 months and I def don't lose weight, if you find out something different please let us know

x

HI there welcome! I wished that were true! I have been on B12 shots for over a year and if anything I have gained weight! Sounds like someone might have gotten their wires crossed. In any event, your food intake has to be lower than your out put.

Glad you are here, hope you find a solution to weight loss, when you do let me know ;)

Hey all...thanks for your input. I have my consult Wed so I don't have all the details yet but I'm thinking it's much different than the B12 injections due to low iron. I know the B12 for the weight loss is given 4-5 times a week, also you take an appetite suppresent and you start a high protein diet.

Weight loss with B-12, haven't heard of it? I've been on B-12 injections for many years and I'm skinny but because of the diarrhea and not the B-12.

Now, apparently if you are deficient in protein and start filling up on your quota, it can remove pounds from you or so they say but keep in mind that some diets that have too much protein and not enough other nutrients can be dangerous, food protein should be okay, just stay away from too much supplemental protein that contains nothing but protein.

I'm on B12 injections every 8 weeks - no weight loss here! Wish there was though - I could stand to lose about 20 pounds if not a few more!!! I don't see a great increase in energy either......sigh....

I'm doing B12, B6 and some other things in the injections, it is a weight loss program. I do a high protein diet along with it, I've already lost 9 pounds in less than a week. It's working wonders for me. Here's the website if anybody has any questions! 4weightclinics.com
