Three weeks ago I traveled from Honolulu to Seattle for a GI consultation and surgery to remove a fibrotic stricture and repair a ileosigmoid fistula. My recovery went well, most likely due to the skill of my surgeon, post-op care in the hospital, and particularly mom's tender loving care.

Yesterday (12 days post op) I finally arrived home to my family in Honolulu. Stopped by the grocery store on the way home and bought $160 worth of healthy organic food. Unpacked my suitcase, did a couple loads of laundry, fixed the pool pump (I am the "pool guy"), cleaned out my water gardens, cooked dinner, and was in bed by 8 p.m. which was 10:00 Seattle time. I was pooped.

It was so worth it to travel for this surgery since Crohn's is very rare in Hawaii and surgeons perform very few procedures each year here. But, oh my, it is great to be home in the land of sunshine, sandals, and tradewinds. I'm sure my vitamin D level plummeted in the past few weeks.

Thanks for being there for me these past three weeks - it made the time go more quickly and reassured me that I was on my way to better health. I feel great and am happy to be on my rock in the middle of the Pacific.

Good news! glad you are back home safe and sound AND pain free. Hope it continues for ya!

There is no place like home!

Only a little stingy incision pain if I sit for long periods of time - like 5 3/4 hour plane rides!

Yes indeed, there is no place like home.

What a happy homecoming for you. Keep on feeling better and better.

Welcome home! And best wishes for an easy, quick recovery and continued good health!

-Amy
