Does anyone else have trouble with the char on BBQ? I've had a minor set back this past week and the only common denominator is BBQ. I've eaten all of the same foods with no problem before albeit cooked in other ways.

I also had some overly toasted toast wit the same effect. Am I on the right track?

Not sure but could it be the amount you ate? i know my stomach plays up if i eat too much of anything

I only had a few bites of bbq last night, a couple pieces of toast for breakfast sat and sun, and one grilled burger each day last week. All of which had black char on them.

I know I cannot eat smoked foods. Every time I do, it does not end well.

I'm just trying to pin this one down since I had been doing so well.

I've always had a problem with BBQ (during flares and not). Gives me diarrhea almost immediately and I've been in remission for over a decade. Skillet, fine, baked, fine, fried, usually fine, throw it on the grill, diarrhea. It sucks but I eat it anyway. :shifty:

For me I think it narrows down to different spices. Pepper- I will be in the bathroom with the worst pain etc.... What seasonings were used?

Seasonings - burgers had the same seasoning that I use on everything (Tony Chacherie's), toast had none, and Sundays BBQ I cannot answer (my dad cooked it, but I'm sure it was nothing odd)

Bread was the same type I've been using. all others are constants that is what is leading me to think it was the chat on the food itself.

I've read that food cooked to a high temp can be aggravating for crohn's. But I don't recall where I read that nor can I back it up. Since then I have tried to be careful not to burn things or overheat cooking oil too much. Can't say that it definitely caused me any problems yet, but the high temp on the bbq and the resulting char, could be the problem like you thought it was.
